As a massively underrated and underappreciated fantasy television series, The Magicians secretly boasts one of the best villain introductions of the 2010s. Season 1s Unauthorized Magic introduces The Beast as the overarching antagonist for main character Quentin Coldwater, but the first episode is careful about how much it chooses to present. Instead of overindulging in character spectacle, the series opener opts to be restrained and selectful when it comes to The Beasts screen time. As a result, this major Magicians villain remains memorable and impactful when compared to contemporary fantasy shows.
