Forgive the pun, but Monogatari was cooking with this arc. The story of the beautiful princess who burned through countries like a plague meeting a vampire she couldn’t kill, no matter how many times she died? It is a modern fairy tale, and a fable of sorts, except that it has a more-or-less happy ending.
After rashly approaching Acerola twice more and dying each time, Suicide-Master heeds the advice of her minion and proposes she go straight after the cause of the Beautiful Princess’ lethality: her beauty. Specifically, Acerola must learn to look and sound less traditionally fairy-tale princes beautiful.
This is why when Kiss-Shot AKA Shinobu finally starts talking to Koyomi centuries from now, she has that haughty, highfalutin manner of speaking. Suicide-Master encourages her to present herself with more of a hard edge, like Suicide herself. But when Acerola takes this too far and tries to stab out an eye to become more pirate-like, Suicide stops her and shoves her on the bed.
Suicide-Master continues to train and polish her meal in her own image, teaching Acerola her adorable “kah kah” laugh, dressing her in gaudier, less innocent dresses, and be generally more “vulgar” in her behavior. But as this training goes on, Suicide-Master continues to go without food, until she’s dying of starvation several times a day. Her body begins to devolve into that of a child, just as the future Kiss-Shot’s will when the specialists defeat her.
Tropicalesque cannot sit by and do nothing while his obsessed master withers away into nothing. Turns out there is a finite number of times she can starve to death, and she seems to be approaching her limit. Knowing what he knew about Acerola, I believe Tropical sacrificed himself by attacking her so that Suicide-Master would have no choice but to eat him and gain some sustenance. Only she and she alone could eat him.
While at first Acerola is distraught by having killed another being, once she sees Suicide eating her minion’s remains, she realizes that the death wasn’t meaningless or wasteful. As such, she wants to live an existence in which those who keep giving their lives to her won’t go to waste. She wants to be a vampire.
Realizing that she will never be able to eat Acerola, and in agreement that her remaining a human would be a waste, Suicide-Master obliges her, and in a truly magical moonlit spectacle atop Corpse Castle, she sinks her fangs into Acerola’s neck. And because her will is not to harm or kill her, she doesn’t die. Instead, Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade is born.
With nothing more to teach her, and vowing not to make her a minion or slave, Suicide-Master bids Kiss-Shot farewell, and Kiss-Shot heads out into the world, without Suicide ever figuring out whether her connection was friendship, affection, or lust (why not all three?) Centuries pass, but Suicide-Master remains, and has heard nothing but good things.
Kiss-Shot has become a Iron-blooded, Hot-Blooded, Cold-Blooded, splendid vampire. A cool-as-shit vampire, like Suicide-Master herself. Over 600 years after making Kiss-Shot, Suicide contemplates going out to see her. Assuming that reunion occurs, here’s hoping we get to see it.
