Eiji and Rin’s evening in her home alone starts off with a formal tour, but Eiji is having a blast being shown around as much as Rin is having a blast showing him around. He points out that she’s still being very formal in her speech patterns with him, something she promises to work on going forward.
There’s a festival going on nearby, but both Eiji and Rin are just fine staying in…with each other. Rin even leads Eiji by the hand to her room, where she invites him to join her on the bed in the dark, the better to see the fireworks. While this would be a tempting opportunity for any guy to make a move, Eiji doesn’t do so; it’s Rin who leans in for a kiss.
Unfortunately, like the confession, the kiss is something we don’t get to see. That seems to be the house style of Pseudo Harem. We do get to finally see some of Rin’s notes profiling her various personas, detailing their likes and mannerisms. And while I’d be content just watching the main couple hanging out for the rest of the season, we get a segment with Eiji’s guy friends, one of whom expresses his jealousy by forming the kanji for “die” in fries.
Rin’s girl time is spent with her bestie Megu admitting Rin looks prettier since summer break; love clearly looks good on her. There’s also the added dynamic of their kohai Kiri. Rin gets to unveil something like a “Gyaru-chan,” but also a “mature-chan” when it comes to telling Kiri there are some things she’s still to young to hear.
Rin and Kiri also end up in a cross-dressing relay race for the school festival, and while Rin ditches “Hotshot-kun’s” big boots in order to run faster, Kiri buries herself in the role of “Delicate-kun” by pretending to collapse from exhaustion, even though she’s actually a very good runner. It’s simply more important for Kiri to show her senpai her acting.
Finally, on Rin’s birthday, Eiji presents her with a serious gift of a tasteful tennis bracelet. He had considered giving silly gifts for each of her personas, but at the end of the day he wanted to step up, and it pays off, as Rin is both surprised and touched by the gift. That said, when Eiji “rejects” both Imp-chan and Spoiled-chan, Rin is troubled. But she misunderstands: Eiji isn’t rejecting her, he’s prioritizing the real Rin above all her personas.
