Akiko is excited about attending both Yuuta and Saki’s student-parent-teacher meetings. Yuuta’s dad commits to giving her a wake-up call, but Saki ends up going home after class to wake her up in person. Yuuta stays at school and kills time in the library, where Maaya comes out and asks him if he has feelings for Saki. When he says it’s not like that, she then asks if she can introduce Saki to another guy. Yuuta tells her that’s not something for which she needs to ask him permission.
The meetings go well for both stepsiblings. Yuuta’s teacher says he can get into any top college in Tokyo, thanks no doubt to how well Akiko raised him. Before Akiko can correct the teacher, Yuuta concurs that she’s grateful to his mother, a comment that makes her year. As for Saki, she learns from her teacher that there’s a very good women’s college with low tuition that’s having an open campus tomorrow.
When Saki attends, she learns that it’s Shiori’s college. Not only that, she inadvertently ends up in a kind of therapy session with one of the college’s professors, Kudou-sensei, who knows about Saki and Yuuta from Shiori. After meeting with her and asking some questions (some with a hand puppet), Kudou believes Saki’s feelings for Yuuta may not necessarily romantic, but born out of her natural tendency to fall for someone who appeared by her side and has been kind to her.
Kudou suggests Saki meet more people, as a limited perspective is the enemy of reason and intellect. If she does, and she still finds her feelings for Yuuta are stronger, then she’ll know those feelings are true. As for Yuuta, he ends up befriending Kaho when they have lunch together and Kaho learns he isn’t assuming she’s easy and trying to pick her up. She finds his unbiased perspective attractive, to the point she asks him to join her for lunch next time as well.
When Saki and Yuuta are finally alone together, they feel more like ordinary brother and sister than ever, asking about their days over dinner. They both agree they had fun, and Yuuta believes this is good for both of them. They’re gradually forming new connections and finding separate paths that will widen their horizons. We’ll see if next week’s finale continues that progress, or if it hits a snag due to the lingering feelings Saki and Yuuta still harbor for one another.
