It’s not every week that a new film from one of the great directors of our times drops, but that is exactly what we have on this week’s episode. Director Francis Ford Coppola has delivered a dream project that he has envisioned for four decades at least. As usual, he has taken on great financial risk to achieve his artistic vison, and that dominates the talk about the film elsewhere. Here we talk about the artistic merit of the film (OK, maybe there is two minutes of commentary about the sourcing of the budget. There is no talk about box office however).
Howard Casner from “Pop Art” is not shy about his views of the movie. Neither is Aaron Neuwirth from “Out Now with Aaron and Abe”. Their views are almost diametrically opposed, so where do James Wilson from “Blogging by Cinema Light” and Daniel Lackey, the host of “From Inner Time” fit on the scale? Do they side with Howard or Aaron?
There is no talk about on set controversies, but there are controversial statements about the actors in their roles. Howard sees Coppola’s view of women as paternalistic, and Shia LeBeouf, may be acting out Coppola’s bias with the acting choices he made. There are spoilers in the discussion, because there is an absence of narrative in the story to keep them in place, so listen with that warning.
