Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend! I had a much needed break yesterday and though I was productive, I still took some time to snuggle up and read a book in this colder weather! I was doing some filming as well (I despise filming hence the lack of IG Reels), but it was for a product that I have been testing out that has turned out to be super cool! 

Despite clay masks always being such a popular item to cleanse and detoxify, my dry skin has never been a fan. I never liked the waiting around for the mask to set nor the feeling of extreme tightness after rinsing off, not to mention how MESSY it is to do so! One of my favourite Korean skincare brands, Leaders Cosmetics, has just launched a new mud cleanser?! I know, it sounds strange and I was honestly not sure what it was when I first received the product, but after testing it out I think it is one of the coolest products I have tried this year! 

This is a mud-based cleanser made with detoxifying kaolin clay with a foamy sponge-like texture that turns into a cleansing foam when mixed with water! This is a non-hardening “mud mask” so for someone like myself with dry skin, this does not strip me of what little moisture my skin has left. The other advantage is that there is no waiting around for 10 minutes for the mask to harden which I have grown to loathe.

This cleanser is multi-purpose one as in addition to the oil control aspects of kaolin clay, there is also LHA (lipohydroxy acid) derived from tomato for gentle exfoliation, the probiotic Lactobacillus from milk to maintain a healthy skin microbiome and milk protein extract for hydration. These ingredients do sit close to the bottom of the ingredients list though so the effects are going to probably be on the minimal side.

What makes this immediately and noticeably different from a mud mask is the consistency. When you squeeze it out, the product comes out soft and kind of foamy. It spreads easily across the face and more importantly, the cleanup is just as easy with the cleanser rinsing off in a soft, milky foam. You can choose to leave this cleanser on for a few minutes or if you are like me, I rinse it off right away in the shower. Oh and it’s also tough enough to rinse off sunscreen! My skin always feels incredibly refreshed after rinsing, but not tight and squeaky like with traditional mud masks. I’ve also never really enjoyed the feeling of the mask hardening and getting crumbly. Then there is always the mess of cleaning up so I am grateful to have found this!

Final verdict: Love this product! I never thought I would enjoy a mud or clay-based skincare product ever! It’s fast and easy to use and the texture is just FUN!
