- The 2025 GMC Terrain is now offered in one trim, the Elevation, replacing the SLT.
- Compared to 2024, the updated model has a better interior with larger display screens.
- Every 2025 Terrain features a 1.5-liter turbo engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
As much as we’d love to report that new car prices might finally take a breather in 2025, GMC has already thrown a wrench into that dream with the first price hike of the year, courtesy of the refreshed 2025 GMC Terrain.
GMC announced that the 2025 Terrain will start at $31,395 for the entry-level Elevation model with front-wheel drive and $33,395 if you spring for all-wheel drive. For comparison, the 2024 Terrain kicked off at $30,095 for the base FWD trim and $31,695 with AWD, marking a $1,300 increase in both cases. While the bump in price might sting a little, GMC is sweetening the deal with some noteworthy upgrades that could make the extra cost worth it.

The new Elevation trim is a step up from the outgoing base SLE model. For 2025, GMC has loaded the Terrain with standard features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, remote start, illuminated vanity mirrors, and express up/down windows—all included with the Driver Convenience Package. If those sound like small luxuries, remember they were optional last year and now come baked into the base price.
Another important upgrade to the 2025 Terrain is the overhauled 15-inch premium infotainment system with Google built-in, meaning the system features Google Assistant, Google Maps, life traffic updates, and novel predictive intelligence features as standard. All Terrain Elevation models also come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, a SiriusXM trial subscription, and OnStar services.

GMC confirmed that the Terrain would also be sold in AT4 and Denali guises. However, GMC won’t be adding them to the range until the 2026 model year. The old Terrain AT4 AWD had started at $36,890, while the Denali AWD was available from $39,995. The SLT, which had been offered in FWD and AWD guises and sat between the SLE and AT4, has been ditched for the third-generation Terrain.
Under the hood, all 2025 Terrain models share the same powertrain: a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft (275 Nm) of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Whether you choose FWD or AWD, you’ll get the same setup across the lineup.
