The LA Lakers have finally found their groove this season and while Anthony Davis and LeBron James will get many of the plaudits one new star has emerged.
In their last 10 games, the Lakers have a 7-3 record which has now seen them improve their record to 20-14 which has seen them rise the Western Conference.
LeBron James has been in fine form since returning from his break, he has turned back the clock and recently broke yet another NBA record.
Rumors of a LeBron exit appeared to have been squashed and Anthony Davis has begun to find his feet after some early season criticism.
While Max Christie has also been shining this season it’s the emergence of the talented Austin Reaves who has been a major asset to the Lakers.
Reaves showing star quality
Reaves’ NBA career started in an interesting fashion as he went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft after declining to be selected 42nd overall by the Detroit Pistons.
It wouldn’t take long for him to sign a two-way contract with the LA Lakers and he scored eight points off the bench in a 115–105 loss to the Phoenix Suns in his debut.
While Reaves has never struggled for minutes the exit of D’Angelo Russell will allow Reaves more court time. Anthony Davis believes D’Angelo Russell was holding back the young Lakers star.
The 26-year-old recently made Lakers history after his 15 points and 11 assists against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Reaves’ brother recently spoke exclusively to NBA Analysis to talk about AR15’s success. Reaves has improved his stats in every area this season and has certainly been a weapon for JJ Redick.
Exploring Reaves’ season numbers
It’s unrealistic to expect Reaves to keep up with the outputs of two of the best players in the league LeBron and Davis but his contributions have been priceless.
Reaves was emotional after producing a match-winning performance against the Golden State Warriors where he finished the night with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
While Reaves is still only in his fourth season in the NBA he is playing with the confidence and composure of a veteran, maybe LeBron has been teaching him a thing or two.

The stats don’t lie and Reaves has steadily improved in all areas season-on-season. The Lakers will be hoping that AR15 can continue his assent and be the future of the franchise.
