Despite boasting three of the best players in the NBA all is not well with the Phoenix Suns – their super team dreams haven’t gone to plan.
You’d think it’s almost impossible for a team that boasts two-time NBA Champion Kevin Durant, four-time NBA All-Star Devin Booker and the talented Bradley Beal to be caught in a crisis.
However, the Suns sit 12th in the Western Conference with a 16-19 record and they’re now looking to force two regular starters out.
Beal and Josef Nurkic are on the Suns’ trade chopping block as they look to salvage any remaining hopes of getting something from their top stars.

Stars not aligning at the Suns
There have been many instances over the years where forming a super team hasn’t paid off, just ask the Brooklyn Nets.
They possessed stars including James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Durant back in the early 2020’s yet they all left with nothing.
Booker was the first piece in the Suns puzzle when he was drafted back in 2015, and despite a slow start in his rookie season, he has averaged 20 points per season ever since.
Both Beal and Durant would join the Suns in 2023 and since their arrivals, the star-studded line-up has managed to crash out in the first round of the Conference Playoffs against a Minnesota Timberwolves team.
The trio are struggling to work as a collective and questions have been asked whether Beal is the right fit at the Suns.
Suns stars stats 24/25
- Devin Booker – 24.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists
- Kevin Durant – 27.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists
- Bradley Beal – 17.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists
The Big 3 have a 9-5 record when playing with each other this season, simply not a good enough return for a side that spent big on their stars. The bigger issue is that the trio have failed to play in 21 games this season together.
Perkins reveals Suns Butler offer
Butler has been linked with a move to the Suns for some time and it appears his career in Miami is coming to an end.
Butler was handed a seven-game suspension by the team for conduct issues which has further indicated that Pat Riley is done with his star.
The Suns and Matt Ishbia are getting a very dangerous reputation that they are willing to spend the big bucks on any star that might be able to help them win.
It is hard to doubt the quality of Butler and his 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season still proves his undoubted quality.
Kendrick Perkins has revealed how the Suns have an offer on the table for Butler, speaking on the Road Trippin’ Show he said: “From my sources… the Suns have a 2-year, $121 million extension waiting on Jimmy… Kevin Durant wants Jimmy Butler, and if he does get Jimmy Butler… they’ll both gonna sign contract extensions.”
A deal to bring Butler to Phoenix could be the final Hail Mary from the ownership before they look to press the reset button, however, removing Beal who has a no-trade clause could be easier said than done.
