The Milwaukee Bucks need some extra help that they’re not getting from a star forward.
After being the laughing stock of the NBA to begin the season, the Milwaukee Bucks have since turned things around for themselves. They’ve climbed to a positive record at 19-16 through 35 games, which is good to land them the No. 5 seed in the conference.
As it turns out, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers is right. Milwaukee will more than likely end up being a playoff team despite a disastrous start to the season. That should be the standard with players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard on the roster.
The third star on the team, Khris Middleton, hasn’t been giving the Bucks quite enough since returning from his injury.
Middleton has reduced production since returning from injury
Middleton was essential to the Bucks’ championship run back in 2021. However, at this point, that was five years ago.
He’s coming off an injury that he’s struggling to return to form from. In 13 games played and seven starts, Middleton is averaging 12.3 points on 43.8% shooting in 23.6 minutes played per game.
The Bucks star is posting some of his worst production in years, and he’s been demoted to the bench by Rivers because of such. ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins was sure to acknowledge Middleton’s struggles off the bench and claims there is a valid reason as to why Rivers benched him.
“We have witnessed seeing how Khris Middleton has looked since coming back off of injury,” Perkins said.
“He doesn’t look good at all, that’s why Doc Rivers made the adjustment of moving him to the bench.”
Perkins is certainly valid, and it’s brutal to see Middleton’s impact having taken such a hit from his injury after he missed quite a bit of time. The former NBA veteran also proposed a fix to the issue for Milwaukee.
Kenrick Perkins claims a Jimmy Butler move can solve the issue
One name hot on the trade market right now is Jimmy Butler, as he’s made his wishes to be traded from the Miami Heat quite public. He has lost his joy playing in South Beach and his relationship with Heat executive Pat Riley is shot.
Butler wants to go to a contender to help a team play winning basketball, and a role in Milwaukee would do exactly that, which is what former NBA champion Perkins pitched.
“If I’m Jimmy, and it’s all about winning, I’m going down to Milwaukee and teaming up with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard,” Perkins pitched.
Evidently, Butler wanted Lillard on the Heat before he was traded to the Bucks from the Portland Trail Blazers, so this would give him an opportunity to team up with the star guard, while also playing with a franchise star and MVP talent like Antetokounmpo.
The Heat are going to listen to all offers for the star forward, and the Bucks might not be able to out-bid other teams to land him and there is no leverage for Butler to land at his desired location.
