Michael Rapaport gets called the nastiest things on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Many comments center on him being Jewish and can’t be repeated here. He doesn’t like it, but it’s preferable to the alternative.
Been there, canceled by that.
The character actor turned standup weighed in on Mark Zuckerberg’s pledge to remove Facebook’s biased “fact-checkers.” That system prevented critical stories from reaching the masses, typically those that hurt Democrats.
The Hunter Biden laptop scandal is just one high-profile example.
Facebook will adopt X’s “community notes” model moving forward. It’s not perfect, but it’s superior to the censorial measures embraced by the platform for far too long.
How bad was it? And what other platforms reign in free speech? Rapaport has some answers.
“On Facebook and Instagram I have been banned. I probably have to bleep this so I don’t get banned for saying I got banned,” Rapaport said in his latest podcast episode. “I’ve been threatened with my account being demonetized, deplatformed.
“And what have I said? I’ve said nothing.”

He cited one example that shows how ludicrous the social media filters can be.
“My worst suspension on social media was January 6, 2021 … I said that if there had been BLEEP people storming the Capitol there would be hundreds of bodies outside the capital,” he said. The bleeped-out word was likely “Black.”
“For 150 days I was in Facebook solitary confinement. They shut me down there,” he said of the fallout. Agree or disagree with that opinion, it doesn’t deserve to be censored.
But it was.
It’s why Rapaport approves of Facebook’s new policy, discarding a deeply dishonest one that often punished right-leaning voices.
Now, compare that approach to how late-night propagandists reacted to Zuckerberg’s update. Both Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert mocked Zuckerberg’s decision, pining for a system that clamped down on speech.
It’s what their party masters demand. And they do as told.
“No, do not trust the community. The worst part about social media is other people,” Colbert quipped.
He added it was another sign of a tech oligarch “kissing” up to President-Elect Donald Trump. Kimmel took a similar position.
Different show. Same script.
“Imagine being one of the wealthiest people in the world and making the decision to announce the end of truth as we know it, while dressed as Macklemore in 2014….”
“Mark Zuckerberg just flushing whatever dignity he had down Trump’s golden toilet, or the fact that he’s transitioning into one of the Golden Girls,” he added.
Neither star appears to support free expression. Heck, Colbert previously embraced the removal of Dr. Seuss books from the public space.
Rapaport knows what it’s like to be canceled. Far-Left voices have been trying to do just that over the past year. His pro-Israel positions drew the ire of the Antifa-adjacent, pro-Palestinian crowd.
If he wasn’t a free-speech warrior before, he sure is one now.
