Blatantly breaking the fourth wall as is her want, Hakari tells the other girlfriends that it’s been over three months since the first season, and so ennui may have set in between them and Rentarou. She proposes they do something to spice things up, and has Kusuri brew a medicine to get rid of the ennui. But the fact Kusuri can’t even pronounce the word doesn’t bode well, and the six end up swapping bodies.
Hakari ends up in Nano’s body, Nano in Shizuka’s, Shizuka in Karane’s, Karane in Hahari’s, Hahari in Kusuri’s, and Kusuri in Hakari’s. They’re all mixed up, but naturally Rentarou can still tell who they are by how they behave. It’s determined that if he kisses one of them their soul will leave the body, and once he kisses them all, the souls return to their rightful bodies. Hakari’s mission is accomplished even if not as planned: Rentarou interacting with his girlfriends this way was exhilarating. At the same time, he admits he prefers and loves them all just the way they are.
The B-part introduces Rentarou’s seventh girlfriend, Haraga Kurumi, a third-year middle schooler who has a problem. She has an extremely fast metabolism, and so has to eat a lot and often. When she isn’t able to, she gets increasingly cranky and unpleasant. Worse still, any time anyone mentions a food she has a powerful craving for it, and even when people use certain words that remind her of food, the same thing happens. As Rentarou says, she’s dealing with a lot!
In all seriousness, Kurumi’s “condition,” such as it is, means she has to try to keep out sights and sounds with a hoodie and headphones, and her hangry attitude pushes everyone away, leaving her a loner. When her and Rentarou’s eyes meet and he feels the same crack as the others, he knows he’s met another soulmate. And unlike everyone else including Kurumi, he’s able to overlook her hostiliy while hungry because he empathizes with how much she’s going through. Also, she looks like she’s enjoying eating so much, she makes what he’s eating taste better.
While initially standoffish and unwilling to accept Rentarou’s help, when she exhausts all options to attain a must-eat katsu sandwich, she relents and allows him to offer one he made for her from scratch, repurposing other cafeteria foods to come as close as possible to what she wanted. And it works! They say the way to a girl’s heart is through her stomach, and that’s certainly the case with Kurumi, who admits food tastes better and she has more fun eating it when Rentarou is around.
As such, the sakura petals appear in Kurumi’s eyes and she formally asks Rentarou out. Naturally, he accepts, and promptly introduces her to the others. She’s standoffish at first, not wanting to interact with the others, but like the logical Nano, she’ll eventually learn to love them all just as they all love Rentarou. He’s going to jumpstart that process by entering all of them into a food fight contest with a delectable gourmet gelato prize. Until then, welcome to the polycule, Haraga Kurumi! She seems like a solid addition.
