When Hwang Dongsoo asks Ahn why Jinwoo is in a White Tiger Gate and isn’t satisfied with the answer, he gets violent with the manager. Baek Yoon-ho steps in, and it looks like there’s about to be an S-rank battle with potentially devastating collateral damage. Fortunately, Woo Jin-Chul comes between the two and assures Dongsoo that his brother was killed by a magic beast, not Jinwoo or anyone else.
Kim Chul, the arrogant A-ranker who got his entire unit killed, has succumbed to fear and rage, especially when he sees Jinwoo’s party laughing and eating together, all warm and cozy by a fire. He charges the three, demanding they tell him who horded supplies, but doesn’t get close enough to hurt them, as Jinwoo appears in the blink of an eye and flicks Kim at least a hundred yards into the snow, stunning him. Hunter Kim didn’t come alone, either.
The Ice Elves and their leader drop their stealth. One of his warriors wants to fight Jinwoo, but Jinwoo quickly beheads his would-be challenger, further impressing the Ice Elf leader. He tells Jinwoo that the voice in all Ice Elves heads ordering them to kill humans doesn’t speak with regards to Jinwoo, so he must not be human. He offers to let Jinwoo live…if he gives up his three human companions. Needless to say, that ain’t gonna happen. Jinwoo promised to protect Song-yi, and he does, along with the mage Park Hee-jin and the C-rank guy.
He summons his newly-acquired army undead of ice bears, along with his knights, and has them go to town on the Ice Elves. In themiddle of his duel with their leader, whom Jinwoo admits is stronger than him, a revived Kim Chul charges him. Jinwoo has Igris kill him, then resurrects him as Iron, a giant undead warrior. As the Elf leader steps up his game, Jinwoo keeps up with the help of both Igris and Iron. And while Igris swung the sword and it was kill-or-be-killed, the fact remains Jinwoo has taken three human lives.
Eventually, having to fight 1-against-3 catches up to the leader, who perhaps had a bit too big of a head to know when to quit and retreat. After a flurry of fast-pasted feints and jukes, Jinwoo relies on Iron to deliver the coup de grace: smashing the elf flat with a giant warhammer. With the boss of the dungeon thus vanquished, an exit gate appears, and the red gate in Japan turns blue.
By the time they’ve emerged, it’s almost 4 in the morning. Jinwoo, frustrated he was still too low a level to absorb the elf leader’s soul, prepares to take Song-yi home, but is stopped by Yoon-ho, who wants answers. Jinwoo surprises him by not only acceding to his request, but correctly castigating him for not expressing his gratitude to Jinwoo for managing to save at least two of his guild-mates. Yoon-ho tells a relieved Manager Ahn to do everything he can to bring Jinwoo into the White Tiger fold.
The next day, Jinho picks Jinwoo up, and they then pick up Song-yi, who is looking extra cute and made up. Jinho is very confused and scandalized when he hears what souns like Song-yi and Jinwoo talking about “not sleeping at all last night.” Far from being scared straight, the red gate quest only made Song-yi more excited about gates, and also forge a bond with Jinwoo, her handsome, valiant knight and savior.
