Ishimori arrives at school not sure if everything she experienced yesterday wasn’t just a dream. Even so, she manages to say good morning to Miura, though he isn’t satisfied with how softly she does so, leading to her yelling it too loudly. Nevertheless, before she knows it, she surrounded by Miura and his friends. Her little dream of talking to classmates at school came true. It may seem like a small step, but not for her.
Ishimori was trained by past classmates to stand perfectly still and not interfere with P.E., but Miura puts an end to that by having Endou pass the basketball to her. Using her years of visualization, Ishimori manages to dribble the ball to a comfortable distance, shoot, and hits nothing but net, impressing the other girls. Another dream, made true with just a little help from Miura.
When the boyfriend of one of Ishimori’s bullies shows up with an unsavory-looking friend to harass her, Ishimori remembers what Miura told her last week and calls out for help from the one she wants help from: him. He arrives and promptly scares off her would-be tormentors, then promises her that he’ll make all of her little dreams come true without fail.
Ishimori isn’t someone who is unfamiliar with love. As such, even though she’s never been in love, she’s pretty sure she’s fallen for Miura judging from how he makes her heart race and flutter. She isn’t afraid to admit this to herself, the most important first step in any romance. She also doesn’t consider her love for Miura to be a burden or a curse, but simply another motivating factor in reinventing herself.
That said, Ishimori doesn’t want to be a burden to Miura, and is content to simply breathe the same air. The thing is, that’s not enough for Miura. When Ishimori slips out after school, Miura and Takamine track her down; Miura wanted to hang out with her more. Alas, her curfew is 5:00, so she has to head home. But Miura walks her to the pedestrian bridge, using the time to tell her not to let her past “Stony” self drag her down.
Before anyone else can see her as anyone other than Stony, she has to believe that she’s no longer Stony. As for Miura, he admits he thinks she’s a stone…but a gemstone. Just like that, he turns the nickname she hated into something she can treasure, all while tacitly admitting that despite his brusque demeanor he actually does cherish her. She resolves to gain enough confidence to declare her love for him.
