LeBron James has been a dominant force in the NBA ever since he arrived in the league in 2003, but all things must eventually end including The Kings’ career.
While LeBron is still breaking records for fun with the LA Lakers his age is certainly starting to take its toll on the four-time NBA Champion.
The 40-year-old has been battling injuries this year and has had to take time away from the court to help handle his issues.
LeBron is still a key cog in the Lakers team something that Chandler Parsons says is asking too much of the star.
The Lakers’ stars future in the game is a hot topic and former Miami Heat star Udonis Haslem has had his say on LeBron’s future on the court.
Haslem believes LeBron has plenty left in the tank
20-time NBA All-Star, LeBron, has managed to continue playing at the highest level for so long that his son Bronny is now a teammate.
Although LeBron is averaging 23.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.8 assists the young NBA talent is coming for his crown at the top of the mountain.
Despite his injury issues and age former teammate, Udonis Haslem explained exactly why the star could continue his NBA career until he’s 45.
Haslem told ESPN: “What people don’t understand is LeBron is the ultimate professional. Practice starts at 10 but LeBron would be at practice at 7 am, he’s got his shots up by 8 am and by 9 am he’s lifting weights and just getting ready for practice.
“What people don’t understand about LeBron James is that it’s not on him, it’s in him. That’s who he is, and if he wanted to he could play another 4-5 years, he can go to 45 if he wanted to.”
LeBron James’ model of consistency
LeBron is now in his 22nd NBA season, a truly mindblowing number that very few NBA stars can even contemplate getting to.
To put it into context Shaquille O’Neal played 19 seasons and Kobe Bryant managed 20. The only player to challenge LeBron is Vince Carter who also has 22.
The King is a serial record breaker so many expect him to find the energy for at least one more season at the highest level.
LeBron has played an average of 69.4 games per season since arriving in the league with the Cleveland Cavaliers but niggles are starting to creep up on the star who has been battling a foot injury this campaign.
He revealed recently how he would likely be playing through the injury all season, something that will take its toll on James who relies on his athleticism and power to dominate on the court.
While it appears LeBron has the quality and heart to continue for many more years in the NBA it remains to be seen when the legend will call time on his career.
