Could the Golden State Warriors strike another in-season move?
The Golden State Warriors have been quite a peculiar team this season. Right now, they are 20-20 on the season and are on the playoff bubble while being on pace to be a Play-In Tournament team.
Given the Warriors’ start to the season, it’s been quite a turn for the negative. Having gone 5-5 in their past ten games, they’re in mediocre form. The club acquiring Dennis Schroder didn’t allow them to turn the corner like they would have liked.
Evidently, currently stuck in the rut, the Warriors might look at different low-risk moves to try and improve around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green — who are at the back ends of their respective careers.

Warriors are eyeing one trade target that should be available
After rumblings in recent media availabilities, it’s been made evident that the Warriors aren’t going to leverage their future for short-sighted win-now moves, something that is leaving teams like the Phoenix Suns with a bleak future.
However, there are some smaller tweaks and changes that can be made without leveraging the future that could give Golden State a boost within their squad.
According to Jake Fischer, there is one trade target that is “on the open market” that the Warriors could pursue.
“At the top of the list to consider for Golden State… Kelly Olynyk from Toronto who is absolutely on the open market.
“He is someone that the Warriors almost traded for, [they] had very significant trade conversations with the Utah Jazz last trade deadline before Kelly Olynyk ended up going to Toronto,” Fischer explained.
It’s quite notable that the Warriors nearly landed Olynyk last offseason. Now that the Raptors are in a rebuilding position themselves, moving on from the veteran center could be incentivized for the them.
Will the Warriors make more moves?
As mentioned, signals coming from the Warriors’ organization from people like Curry and head coach Steve Kerr make it seem as if a trade for an additional star might not happen. They could wait on Jonathan Kuminga to potentially turn the corner as a star.
However, that doesn’t mean the Warriors might make low-lift moves like acquiring Olynyk. They attempted to last year at this time, according to Fischer. They could absolutely look to make a similar move.
The 33-year-old center has played in just 18 games with one start for the Toronto Raptors this season, averaging 6.1 points per game. He’s still a productive player, though, and would work great in the Warriors’ system.
Evidently, because Olynyk has a reduced role in Toronto, his trade value is low enough that he’s affordable for Golden State, who wouldn’t suffer long-term implications for making such a move.
