As the Food Fight Festival (with its blatant fanservice-prone MC) kicks off, Haraga Kurumi is convinced that Rentarou and his six other girlfriends will be nothing but dead weight. She’s resolved to eating and winning alone in every round. But this is a team-building exercise, so she won’t be alone. Rentarou eases her into the idea of teamwork by eating rice with her in the first round.
Not only does he give her a huge assist by suggesting she try the “trap” side dishes worth 0 points (because all the other competitors see her enjoying them and get stuffed on them, thus narrowing the field) but Rentarou is able to eat a surprising amount of rice since each bowl is served to him by a different girlfriend.
Each subsequent round has the same effect: Kurumi does fine on her own, but far better with the others participating. In the bubble tea round, Shizuka’s chipmunk cheeks serve her well. In the sushi round, Nano foregos chewing altogether, and uses her acrophobia to finish the plate.
Karane and Kusuri’s tolerance for spice helps in the Mapo tofu round, while the Hanzono ladies are hoping the fat and sugar from the cake round will go to their busts. Slowly but surely, Kurumi comes around to the idea of “the power of love” on display with the Rentarou family, such that when the final ramen round arrives and she’s struggling, she wishes she had trusted everyone to handle the previous rounds so she could eat more now.
In the end, Kurumi is saved by Rentarou once again, who makes the very logical assumption that if she romantically feeds him the winning bite, he will be biologically incapable of throwing it back up. Such is the power of a bite of food fed to you by your girlfriend.
…That, and the champion competitive eater Chanko is cheating the whole time, filling a tank in his false body with food and liquids. Kurumi gets it done with her God-given stomach, her boyfriend, and her six co-girlfriends who really really really really love him, and each other.
When Kurumi apologizes to the girls, fully expecting them to be cross with her, they instead each offer her a bite of their gourmet gelato. The team-building exercise worked like a charm: now Kurumi knows the value of teamwork and that her co-girlfriends are not to be underestimated.
Finally, when Kurumi is alone with Rentarou, she boldly asks for a taste of one more thing as a reward for winning: the taste of…Rentarou, in the form of a passionate kiss. Not only does she enjoy it as much as any of the bites and sips of food and drink earlier that day, but now every time she hears or reads the word “broth,” her brain forms a connection that makes her crave another kiss from Rentarou—a kiss he’ll be happy to give her every time.
