Things are not rosy at the Golden State Warriors as they find themselves below the .500 mark and out of the playoff places in the West.
Sitting at 11th place after the loss to the LA Lakers, there is a very real chance that the Dubs play out the last few years of Steph Curry’s career in purgatory.
They’re nowhere near good enough to make a splash in the championship conversation, and not nearly bad enough to lean on tanking and effectively fail Curry and Green.
What needs to happen in that scenario is the team needs to go all-in for players that raise their floor immediately to catapult them back into contention.
Thankfully for the Golden State Warriors, there is just the player on the market who can do that and could be available on palatable terms.

Golden State Warriors’ prime trade target
Through all the bad losses and collapse in form, Steph Curry and Co have maintained that they won’t mortgage their future for some wins right now.
However, the problem with that line of thinking is that their future also looks bleak and the “wins right now” are increasingly becoming crucial with every loss.
The Dennis Schroder trade was a good swing but has failed to pay off while the veteran core is having more off nights than not.
In such a situation, often an earth-shattering move is needed to shock the players out of their stupor and announce the re-arrival of the team.
In Myles Turner, the Warriors should have their prime trade target for this trade window clear.
Reportedly, all is not well with Turner in Indiana, with the Pacers not entirely sure about giving him a contract extension on his demands.
That makes him an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season and hence, the trade talk is rife with rumors and links to many teams.
Golden State Warriors get | Indiana Pacers get |

The Warriors can’t afford to let this opportunity slip past them, at least not without trying to make it happen.
Turner fixes the Warriors’ biggest weakness
It is clear watching the Warriors this season that they are desperately missing a player who can free up some space in that clogged frontcourt.
Buddy Hield’s hot shooting has cooled off massively while the days of Draymond Green scaring defenders from the arc are long gone in the past.
Gui Santos has shot well recently but the sample size is too small which leaves Steph Curry as the only player on that roster hitting at least 40% of his threes.
Player | 3PT% |
Gui Santos | 44.2% on 2 attempts/game |
Steph Curry | 40.3% on 10.6 attempts/game |
Moses Moody | 39.7% on 4.1 attempts/game |
Andrew Wiggins | 37.8% on 5.7 attempts/game |
Kyle Anderson | 37.3% on 1.5 attempts/game |
Moses Moody at 39.7% is the next best after which there is a fall, Andrew Wiggins coming in at 37.8%.
As things stand, Turner, who’s shooting a career-high from the 3PT range this season (39.3%), would immediately become the Warriors’ third-best 3PT shooter, excluding Gui Santos’ small sample size.
In addition, Turner has finished top-10 in Defensive Player of the Year rankings twice in his career so that shooting doesn’t come at the cost of defensive excellence.
A pick-and-pop option is sorely needed in the Warriors’ starting five and they can make it happen by trading for Turner. They will have to give up Jonathan Kuminga as the centerpiece but all will be worth it if it means another ring for Steph and Co.
