The New York Knicks are continuing their impressive season and they’re proving that the best in the West can be toppled.
A 122-112 win over the Denver Nuggets has seen the Knicks extend their unbeaten run to five matches which sees them third in the Eastern Conference with a 32-16 record.
Karl-Anthony Towns has received much of the plaudits for the Knicks this season and perhaps rightly so, but he came under fire from Draymond Green for his display against the Nuggets.
One player who seems to be sliding under the radar somewhat is Jalen Brunson and he showed his quality once more in the team’s latest win.
Perkins praises Jalen Brunson
Brunson starred for the Knicks scoring 30 points as well as adding 15 assists to continue his brilliant form while scoring 10-16 field goals.
The 28-year-old is averaging 25.9 points, 2,9 rebounds and 7.5 assists this season and Chandler Parsons recently hailed him the Knicks’ most important player.
Somebody who agrees with Parsons’ take is former NBA star Kendrick Perkins who was quick to praise Brunson for his recent display.
Taking to social media, he said: “The growth of Big Body Brunson has been the key to the Knicks high power offense! Going out there and getting his and still making others around him better.”
Brunson himself recently praised the talents of teammate OG Anunoby who secured himself a solid 23 points against the Nuggets, his game has improved to another level this season.
Perkins recently likened Anunoby to legendary Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen, it’s safe to say he’s a fan.
Jalen Brunson can help the Knicks succeed against the best
While the Eastern Conference is often looked at as slightly weaker than the West the Boston Celtics‘ recent success would argue against that.
The Knicks are having a solid season in the East but many will question if they can mix it with the best the West can offer if they make it to the NBA Finals.
Many have questioned whether the team have enough bench depth to compete later in the season with many of their top stars being overplayed.
However, Tom Thibodeau recently named two New York Knicks bench players who have impressed him in the form of Cameron Payne and Myles McBride.
Defeating both the Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies in recent weeks also highlights how the Knicks have more than enough quality to compete.
