With the trade deadline fast approaching many are expecting some late moves in and out of the Phoenix Suns.
While performances have started to see an upturn recently the Suns were handed a 113-121 defeat by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kevin Durant and Devin Booker once again shone scoring 33 and 28 points respectively, however, it was not enough to earn them a fourth win on the bounce.
The Suns now sit with a 24-22 record in the Western Conference and to secure a certain playoff spot they will likely need to make some moves, something owner Matt Ishbia is not scared of.
Durant speaks out on Suns trade noise
It’s safe to say the Suns have faced their fair share of drama over the recent weeks and months with coach Mike Budenholzer not afraid to make some bold calls.
Bradley Beal has been demoted to the bench while the franchise appears to be looking to force him out to bring in Jimmy Butler.
Jusuf Nurkic has been exiled from the team and recently revealed how he had no relationship with the coach.
The uncertainty around the stars futures is not helpful for a Suns team looking to get back on track after a poor start and Durant has spoken on the impact the noise is having on the team.
He said: “We grown men, most of these guys been in the league 8+ years, 9+ years….It’s about doing your job and controlling what you can control every single day. Until your name is called or it’s not called, you still gotta do your job, even if it’s here or in another jersey”
Durant facing own trade rumors
The two-time NBA Champion is one of the most consistent performers on the roster but his future in Phoenix is facing questions.
Durant is averaging 27-6-4 this season and has played a major part in the Suns’ upturn in results.
However, speaking on the Kevin O’Connor show, Tom Haberstroh suggested that ‘it’s only a matter of time’ before Durant has had enough, saying: “It’s only a matter of time before Kevin Durant’s like ‘I’m not going to be sitting here watching the playoffs on my couch again.”
KD has spoken openly about his excitement about new trade addition Nick Richards and recently defended the approach of the Suns owner for his approach to the team, which has sometimes been labelled as somewhat hectic.
While KD is unlikely to make any last-minute moves away from Phoenix before the trade window closes, he will certainly want more from the Suns if he is to continue the latter stages of his career with them.
