The New York Knicks have endured a tough week after the team’s back to back losses against Eastern Conference rivals.
Two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics were an opportunity for the New York Knicks to make their mark as title contenders. Instead, two losses just gave more ammunition to their doubters.
The Knicks have been written off in the ensuing days, with even star players like Karl-Anthony Towns coming in for criticism.
But there is still all to play for, and the Knicks’ achievements this season should not be so summarily dismissed.
Speaking on his podcast, former star Carmelo Anthony expressed his fears that top teams are figuring out how to play against them.

Jalen Brunson is averaging 26.1 points per game, a fantastic output, although a slight dip on his 28.7 ppg last season.
Knicks hero Carmelo Anthony told 7PM To Brooklyn that he believes teams are sticking multiple physical opponents on him to make him work harder for his points, and expend more energy.
Anthony said: “I also think that teams, it’s a copycat league, if you look at the Knicks vs the top teams, a lot could have gone into losing those two.
“I think teams figured out a way to at least disrupt the Knicks offense by putting bigger stronger taller guys on Brunson. Now when you switching, you going to another 6 8” guy, physical, pick after pick. That’s strategy, Cleveland did it, OKC did it as well.
“They going to see big taller physical guys, they going to put physical guys on JB, he going to do his thing, but that’s a lot of work to constantly, every single time.”
Carmelo Anthony wants more from OG Anunoby
Brunson is one of the league’s best players, with teammate Towns comparing him to Knicks legend Willis Reed.
But against the Boston Celtics, he had too much to do to catch up with their opponents’ prolific three-point shooting.
Carmelo Anthony believes the Knicks needed to take advantage more of OG Anunoby to make the game more physical and take the game to Boston, to disrupt their rhythm.
He explained: “They don’t take advantage of OG enough, when __ gets ___ed and they shooting a bunch of threes, I’m going to OG in the post.
“Get me a foul, get me a bucket. He the only one. At that size, that position, that can go down there, and attempt to go get a foul and a layup on the block.”
The Knicks could ultimately come up against the Cavs or Celtics in the playoffs, where they will be clear underdogs. But there is now plenty of tape for them to study and look for ways to change it up, despite the mammoth task before them.
