This season offers yet another humbling learning experience for the Utah Jazz.
For the third straight season, the franchise endures another rebuild. And if compared to the last two years, this 2024-25 drops them at the lowest.
With only around a quarter remaining this season, the Utah Jazz see themselves as one of the worsts in the NBA. They are currently the lowest seeded team in the Western Conference with 15-44.
Yet despite the general negativity that surrounds their season, Keyonte George remains a firm believer of the team’s vision under the leadership of Lauri Markkanen.

For being the prized franchise star of the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen is witnessing a challenging year.
After landing a major five-year, $238 million max extension last summer with the franchise, Markkanen has been relatively disappointing this season. The Finnish sensation is just averaging 19.3 points, 6.1 boards, and a career-worst 42.5 percent shooting from the field.
That’s relatively low to what he established in the past two NBA seasons wearing a Jazz uniform wherein he tallied a career-high 25.6 points and 49.9 percent shooting with 8.6 boards in his first campaign for them in 2022-23.
Amid a lowly season for Markkanen and the entire team, George still stands optimistic that brighter possibilities await them.
“The future is very bright,” he told HoopsHype. “Lauri is a phenomenal player. He continues to do his thing and lead us, and me and Lauri understand what we want to do, and the whole team does too.
“They understand the goal we have in mind: we want to make it to the postseason, do damage in the postseason, and ultimately win the championship. We truly believe that, and Will [Hardy] does too.
“So right now, it’s very important to build the right habits, lay the right foundation, and understand how we want to play as a team.”

Beyond Markkanen and George, the Jazz boasts several other promising talents from Walker Kessler, John Collins, Collin Sexton, and Isaiah Collier.
As they are still considerably developing and just on their way towards the top, George is keeping his trust in the process for himself and the Jazz. And that starts from building within.
“We also want to create the culture we want, so when new guys come in, they know what Utah is about,” he added. “From there, we can keep moving forward.
“We just want to build that culture, and once we have it, once everyone understands how Utah plays basketball, everything else will take care of itself. That’s the first building block of anything.”
Now might not be their time yet, but the Jazz are certainly one of the key few teams to watch out in the future.
