Nolan’s Time Flip Movie ‘Tenet’ Returns to Theaters on February 23rd
¡niaga ti ecneirepxE! Warner Bros has announced that they are re-releasing Christopher Nolan's Tenet again in 2024, for one week only this February. Most of you will remember how hard they tried to turn this into a hit in late 2020 right at the start of the pandemic, but it didn't do so well at the box office back then. Time to try again. Tenet is a sci-fi action movie on a global scale, involving time travel and espionage. The gimmick involves a device that can reverse time, which powerful people want to manipulate for their gain. John David Washington stars with Robert Pattinson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, Dimple Kapadia, Yuri Kolokolnikov, and of course Michael Caine. I wish this movie was better - even though I saw it a few times, it's one of my least favorite Nolan creations. Tenet will play again in 70mm and in IMAX starting February 23rd, 2024. "Seeing the way audiences responded to our large format presentations of Oppenheimer, I'm thrilled that Warner Bros. is giving audiences a chance to ...
Infrared Junk – Official Trailer for Harmony Korine’s ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ Film
"I was born to kill." EDGLRD has revealed some footage for this infrared hitman film. Feast your eyes on the official trailer for Harmony Korine's Aggro Dr1ft, one of the stupidest films ever made. Yes, seriously. Even though I may hate it, this trailer is worth sharing just so you can see how bad it is in order to help save your time & money. Aggro Dr1ft premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last year and I hated it - here's my full review. In this sensual experimental elegy by Harmony Korine, spellbinding infrared photography evokes a dreamlike portrait of a tormented assassin. It's shot in and presented entirely as infrared footage, with annoying, blaring sound and music that will make you want to drive right off a cliff... Starring Jordi Mollà and Travis Scott, who I am sure both regret participating in this utterly awful hitman project. It's so terrible it even features A.I. visuals that make most scenes uglier. Please stay away from this trash movie.

Russell Crowe is Losing His Memory in ‘Sleeping Dogs’ Thriller Trailer
"Move on and forget about all of this..." The Avenue has revealed the official trailer for a detective mystery thriller titled Sleeping Dogs, yet another of these crime stories they're serving up dime a dozen. Somehow they got Russell Crowe to star in this, even though it looks like some direct-to-video quality schlock. An ex-homicide detective with memory loss is forced to solve a brutal murder he can't recall. He undergoes a special treatment and begins to re-examine an old case involving a brutal murder and wrongful conviction. But as evidence uncovers secrets tied to his forgotten past, he is led to a chilling truth - sometimes, it's best to let sleeping dogs lie. Russell Crowe stars as Roy Freeman, joined by Karen Gillan, Márton Csókás, Thomas M. Wright, Harry Greenwood, and Tommy Flanagan. Not really much in here - view below.

Emily Bett Rickards & Stephen Amell in Western ‘Calamity Jane’ Trailer
"There's too many of 'em." "It's just more targets..." Goldwyn Films has revealed their trailer for Calamity Jane, a western thriller arriving to watch in February. Currently set for release on VOD in about a week from now. After Wild Bill is killed in a poker game, Calamity Jane must break out of prison and seek revenge before the Deadwood's Sheriff can arrest them. Not to be confused with the actual classic western also called Calamity Jane from 1953 starring Doris Day. Directed by Terry Miles, Calamity Jane reunites Arrow co-stars Emily Bett Rickards and Stephen Amell, who star alongside Tim Rozon, Priscilla Faia, Gage Marsh, Garrett Black, Christian Sloan, Troy Mundle, and Spencer Borgeson. I will say that, sure, Emily looks pretty badass in it as a gun-slingin' Calamity Jane, though the rest of the film looks pretty bad.

Official Trailer for ‘Defoe’ Doc About English Footballer Jermain Defoe
"It's not just about football... It's more than just kickin' a ball." Kaleidoscope Ent. in the UK has revealed an official trailer for a sports biopic documentary titled Defoe – a defining portrait of one of England's greatest goal-scorers, Jermain Defoe. As a player for many Premier League teams, this is obviously set for a UK release first, opening in February with a one night screening event and Q&A. Mixing remarkable interviews with Jermain, his family, fellow players and managers, including Harry Redknapp, Peter Crouch, and Joe Cole, and iconic archive footage – this inspiring, honest and unexpectedly heart-warming doc film explores how football gave Jermain Defoe both great success on the pitch and so much more beyond it, offering a fascinating insight into the life and career of one of England's most prolific high-profile scorers. ⚽ Director James Ross adds: "Though I knew his goals on the pitch, I never expected that by asking him to trace his roots and his career, it would reveal such a complex tale of love, loss, trauma and redemption off the pitch."

Another Strange Trailer for Bruno Dumont’s Wacky Sci-Fi ‘The Empire’
"The opposing forces are formidable." Time to battle the Empire! Memento Films has revealed a brand new official trailer for The Empire, the strange French sci-fi film from filmmaker Bruno Dumont. We already posted a trailer for this last year when it was first unveiled. It will premiere at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival next month, perhaps because every other fest rejected it. Bruno Dumont's sci-fi The Empire (aka L'Empire) is set in a quiet fishing village on the Opal Coast in Northern France, and tells the story of a child who is so unique and peculiar it unleashes a secret war between extraterrestrial forces of good and evil. Starring a big French cast including Virginie Efira, Lily-Rose Depp, Camille Cottin, Lyna Khoudri, Anamaria Vartolomei, with Fabrice Luchini. It's a bit weird how this trailer hides so much of the sci-fi until the last few shots at the end, instead focusing on all the French women's bodies. I really wish this looked better because I love ambitious sci-fi, but it looks like it's going be a giant dud. I guess ...
Official Trailer for Nun Horror Film ‘Immaculate’ with Sydney Sweeney
"It's a miracle! You are with child..." Neon has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller film titled Immaculate, made by filmmaker Michael Mohan. This is set for a release in late March in theaters, without having any festival premieres. The religious horror stars (and is produced by) Sydney Sweeney as an American nun. Cecilia, a woman of devout faith, is welcomed to the picture-perfect Italian countryside where she is offered a new role at an illustrious convent. But it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors dark and horrifying secrets. The cast also includes Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, and Simona Tabasco. It was filmed mostly in and around Rome, Italy last year. This doesn't look like anything new, we've seen it before - check out Deliver Us which is quite similar. These freaky pregnancy horrors are becoming increasingly common. "How can we trust what's inside you?"

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Meets a Talking Bird in A24’s ‘Tuesday’ Film Trailer
"Every life ends..." A24 has unveiled an official trailer for an intriguing film titled Tuesday, marking the feature directorial debut of Croatian filmmaker Daina Oniunas-Pusic (aka Daina O. Pusić). This premiered at last year's Telluride Film Festival, but it hasn't shown up many other places since then. This features a rather unique high concept: a mother and her teenage daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird (who appears as a big parrot). It's a story about a woman who is sick and dying, and a mother who doesn't want to let her daughter go, learning to accept the reality of death thanks to this talking bird (as Death) helping her though it. All of this sounds quite wild. Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as Zora, Lola Petticrew as Tuesday, Leah Harvey, Ellie James, and Arinzé Kene as the voice of Death. This actually doesn't seem that weird, looks like a soulful & emotional journey through tough times.

Jake Gyllenhaal Heads Down to Florida in Rowdy ‘Road House’ Trailer
"Let me guess – you're gonna threaten me, tell me to get outta town." Prime Video has revealed the official trailer for the 2024 remake of Road House, the original 80s cult classic that starred Patrick Swayze. This fresh new update stars Jake Gyllenhaal, who heads down to Florida to work at an extremely rowdy "road house" bar. In the original, Swayze went from New York City to the Double Deuce in Jasper, Missouri. In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining, ex-fighter Dalton takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems. This film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Conor McGregor, and Billy Magnussen, along with Jessica Williams, Darren Barnet, and Conor McGregor. Joel Silver produces yet again, as he did with the original. Even if you do think this does look good, director Doug Liman is protesting the premiere because Amazon promised him a theatrical release and is instead skipping theaters and dropping it streaming only. Not really sure why, seems like a fun time.

Official Trailer for Creepy & Weird ‘Stopmotion’ Indie Horror Creation
"Do you want to hear the next bit of the story?" IFC Films has revealed an official trailer for Stopmotion, a very strange and peculiar indie horror film from English filmmaker Robert Morgan. This first premiered at both Fantastic Fest 2023 and the Sitges Film Festival last year, where I originally saw it. Yes, there is stop-motion animation work in this, though it's really a story about a woman who is creating a film. Ella Blake, a stop-motion animator struggling to control her demons after the loss of her overbearing mother, embarks upon the creation of a film that becomes the battleground for her sanity. As Ella's mind starts to fracture, the characters in her project take on a life of their own. Then it gets really weird! "An unnerving display of psychological horror reminiscent of Censor (2021)." IFC also adds that this features "truly unforgettable, Švankmajer-esque animation." Aisling Franciosi stars as Ella, along with Stella Gonet, Tom York, and James Swanton. This is a gnarly trailer, with some frightening editing that builds to the end. Take a look.
