This feature doc from Curious Films (Running with the Devil) and director Sam Hobkinson (of Fear City: New York vs The Mafia, The Kleptocrats, Misha and the Wolves and many other docs), deftly assembles the pieces of a mind-bending true tale of harassment, digital deception, and murder in America’s heartland. Lover, Stalker, Killer tells the twisted tale of a modern-day love triangle gone murderously wrong. Following up other docs like The Tinder Swindler, this one examines how Nebraska auto mechanic Dave Kroupa's 2012 attempt to get into the online dating put him in a digital love triangle that ended in murder. This looks crazy! I don't like the way they over-stylize this incident and add all the dramatic music, but it still seems like a fascinating story about how jealous some people can get. Magical Caresses is an animated documentary series, in which Quebecois illustrator and filmmaker Lori Malépart-Traversy takes a playful and uninhibited look at solo sexuality. These are supported and released by the National Film Board of Canada, created while Lori was an artist-in-residence at the Cinémathèque québécoise. There are a total of four short films, each one only four minutes long, discussing various topics about female sexuality and the unique experiences various women have had discovering their sexuality.
