"Thanks for your National Socialist hospitality." A24 has debuted a second official trailer for The Zone of Interest, the acclaimed new film from British filmmaker Jonathan Glazer (of Sexy Beast, Birth, Under the Skin). Opening in theaters soon this December, the film is appearing on lots of Top 10 lists this month. It originally premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and was expected to win the Palme d'Or, though it ended up winning the Grand Prix second place prize. Though initially adapted from Martin Amis' novel of the same name, the film has a different focus. It's about the Nazi commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss, and his family who live in a nice home located adjacent to this horrible concentration camp in Poland. This stars Christian Friedel and Sandra Hüller as husband & wife, Freya Kreutzkam, Max Beck, Imogen Kogge, and Ralph Herforth. A deeply unsettling film about the banality of evil, following this German family as they live a "good life" just outside of the walls of the Nazi's Auschwitz during WWII. "Sometimes the messenger has to become the message." Paramount has debuted the full official trailer for Bob Marley: One Love, the Hollywood biopic about the legendary Jamaican reggae maestro. It's now set for release in February on Valentine's Day in early 2024. Starring Kingsley Ben-Adir (from "Vera", "Peaky Blinders", "Secret Invasion", One Night in Miami) as Bob. Produced in partnership with the Marley family, and featuring Lashana Lynch as his wife Rita, Bob Marley: One Love lands in theaters soon. The cast also includes Sundra Oakley, Anthony Welsh, Tosin Cole, Umi Myers, James Norton, and Michael Gandolfini. On the big screen for the "first time", discover Bob's powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music – this is his life story. There have been documentaries made about Bob Marley recently, but this is a full-on dramatic biopic made with the support of his family. "I'm not exaggerating when I say that... my life was the Millennium Falcon." A Japanese Star Wars fan spent a few years making a remarkably detailed, perfectly accurate recreation of the original ILM workshop FX studio that made the first Star Wars movie. There's an entrancing 20 minute short doc about it online that is absolutely worth a watch. It is the story of Hiroshi Sumi, a big-time Star Wars geek who grew up with a deep fondness for the "behind-the-scenes" work of ILM, and a powerful love for the precise details in all of the hand-made FX models. Especially the Millennium Falcon, which he has a special connection to. I found this thanks to John Gruber and I think his post really captures what makes it such a fascinating story: "An homage and loving look back at the earliest days of Industrial Light and Magic... "You can't beat them with a normal car." "Yes we can... if you drive it." Yet another racing movie on the horizon. Lionsgate Movies has unveiled an official trailer for Race For Glory: Audi vs Lancia, formerly known as simply 2 Win (all of these titles are bad). This project is an Italy / UK / Ireland co-production directed by an Italian filmmaker, and starring, co-written by, and produced by the Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio. Inspired by true events that occurred during the fierce rivalry between Germany (Audi) and Italy (Lancia) at the 1983 Rally World Championships. Race For Glory stars Riccardo Scamarcio as rally driver Cesare Fiorio, Volker Bruch as racing champion Walter Röhrl, with Katie Clarkson-Hill, Esther Garrel, Giorgio Montanini, Gianmaria Martini, Haley Bennett, and featuring Daniel Brühl as the German engineer Roland Gumpert, founder of the sports car manufacturer Apollo Automobil. Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the full official trailer for the film Freud's Last Session, directed by filmmaker Matt Brown, based on Mark St. Germain's play of the same name. "There was a time we were all lost... looking for somewhere to go." Netflix has revealed the official trailer for an animated series premiering in just a few weeks titled Carol & The End of The World, created and produced by Dan Guterman ("The Colbert Report", "Community", "Rick and Morty"). Another apocalyptic story about what to do when the world is ending. Global human annihilation is impending due to a mystery planet speeding towards Earth. Among the hedonistic crowd, one quiet & perpetually uneasy woman stands out, while the majority feel free to follow their greatest hedonistic desires. Guterman explains that the show is "a love letter to routine. A show about the comforts of monotony. An animated & existential comedy about the daily rituals that make up the gaps that make up a life." "War has broken out below... And we were told to take the I.S.S." Bleecker Street Films has revealed the full official trailer for a sci-fi thriller called I.S.S. (which is the commonly known name for the International Space Station), made by acclaimed doc filmmaker Gabriela Cowperthwaite, based on Nick Shafir's Blacklist script. This originally premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, but it is only getting released in January in theaters. Which may not be a good sign... When a world war event occurs on Earth, America & Russia, both nations secretly contact their astronauts aboard the ISS and give them instructions to take control of the station by any means necessary. HBO has unveiled the full trailer for the highly anticipated new season of the "True Country" crime series officially titled True Detective: Night Country. It's set in Alaska during the time of year when it's very dark and cold. This next season is written & directed entirely by the Mexican filmmaker Issa López, known for her film Tigers Are Not Afraid. "How far would you go to find the answers?" In Ennis, Alaska, the people that operate a research station vanish... To solve the case, Detectives Danvers and Navarro will have to confront the darkness themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice. "Our heads will be blown off in 60 hours." Warner Bros Japan + DC have unveiled the full official trailer for a Japanese anime series called Suicide Squad Isekai. It's now set to launch in 2024, after we posted a teaser earlier this year expecting it to arrive at the end of 2023. The term "isekai" is a Japanese word that means "another world" – which is also what the plot is about, with this ragtag team of DC villains literally explaining in here they're going to "another world." Super-Villains sent to ISEKAI!? The most dangerous & bizarre fantasy adventure unveiled!! The anime is produced by Warner Bros. Japan and it's animated by Wit Studio, directed by Eri Osada. The voice cast features Anna Nagase as Harley Quinn, Yūichirō Umehara as The Joker, Reigo Yamaguchi as Deadshot, Takehito Koyasu as Peacemaker (who looks hilarious in this), Jun Fukuyama as Clayface, and Subaru Kimura as the indomitable King Shark.
