CMC Pictures from China has revealed a new trailer (including English subtitles) for a wacky Chinese comedy called Be My Family. It's opening this week in China, and next week in Western cinemas for everyone to watch. This is a mainstream comedy like Hollywood used to make, but from China featuring two big movie stars from China - Zhang Yi and Pan Bin-Long. They star as a pair of hardware store buddies, and failed debt collectors, who turn into expert babysitters. In order to collect, two laid-off workers take temporary care of Qianqian, the daughter of the debtor, but they didn't expect what happens next. Now they will rescue her and take care of her. "From creditors to loving dads, a heartwarming family drama unfolds in the hardware store! Come and witness a story filled with laughter and tears." "You could be really hot if you change, like... everything." Paramount has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the 2024 update on Mean Girls, a big screen version of the Mean Girls musical from Broadway (which closed in 2020). It's not really a remake, it's not really a sequel, it's kind of a re-imagining but as a musical even though it borrows the same story and setup from the original 2004 Mean Girls movie. Paramount Pictures Presents, a Broadway Video/Little Stranger Production, arriving in theaters nationwide in January 2024. Get in loser, we're going to the movies. Cady Heron is a hit with the Plastics, A-list girl clique at her new school and she makes mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels, the ex-boyfriend of alpha Plastic Regina George. "This isn't London, Jack. There's nowhere to hide..." Hulu has revealed the official trailer for The Artful Dodger, a spin on Charles Dickens' classic story Oliver Twist. Set in 1850s Australia the series follows adult double life of Charles Dickens' famous prince of thieves Dodger, now a surgeon, but who can't shake his predilection for crime. Dodger's past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin, who wants to lure him back into a world of crime. And an even greater threat — to Dodger's heart — is Lady Belle Fox (as played by Maia Mitchell), the Governor's daughter, who is determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon. The series stars talented young actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jack Dawkins, with David Thewlis (looking grimy), Damon Herriman, Tim Minchin, Miranda Tapsell, Luke Carroll, Kim Gyngell, Vivienne Awosoga, and Nicholas Burton. "Eyes on the fire, Sammy boy." Level 33 Ent. has debuted an official trailer for an indie sci-fi comedy called Adventures of the Naked Umbrella, the latest from filmmaker Gerald Brunskill. It's available to watch at the end of this week on VOD, if you want to fire it up. 🛸 A conspiracy theorist with a pyromania disorder suffers a relapse when his trailer home suddenly explodes, igniting a search for truth that could burn his world to the ground. Jeremy Davies stars as the arsonist Sam Wanoutsky who was recording his podcast, "The Naked Umbrella," when his trailer home burns to the ground. Convinced he's been set up, Sam hits the road with his parole officer hot on his tail. Also starring Tom Arnold, Richard Riehle, Taryn Manning, Vinny Balbo, Cindy Vela, Rylee Marshall, and Darnell Rhea. FX & Hulu revealed another short new 60-second trailer for the epic historical series Shōgun, created by writers Justin Marks & Rachel Kondo. A saga of war, passion, and power set in Feudal Japan. From James Clavell's novel of the same name, FX’s Shōgun is set at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found in a nearby fishing village. It follows John Blackthorne, a sailor who rises from outsider to samurai, while being used as a pawn in Japanese leader Toranaga's struggle to reach the top of Shogun. "After the alignment, the world will change forever. Everything will start over." 🔭 Dark Star Pictures has released an official US trailer for an indie sci-fi action thriller film from France titled The Gravity, made by filmmaker Cédric Ido. This intially premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival last year and it already opened in France earlier this year. Finally set for a US release on VOD starting in November. A mysterious cosmic event upsets the Earth's gravity and sets the sky ablaze in a red hue, creating chaos in a futuristic Parisian suburb. This French "genre-busting" thriller is more of a story about street culture in the suburbs, following a local band of teenagers and their feud with other residents in the area. Starring Jean-Baptiste Anoumon, Max Gomis, Steve Tientcheu, Oliver Rosemberg, Thierry Godard, and Hafsia Herzi. Apparently all hell breaks loose once this red tinge takes over, part of the strange occurrences caused by his cosmic alignment event. "She tore a hold in space... there's a different reality bleeding into ours." Marvel has another official trailer for the The Marvels sequel, opening in theaters worldwide this weekend. This is a "let's trying everything" kitchen sink trailer that opens with Avengers and Iron Man (who aren't in the movie) in hopes it might get audiences interested. This is a sequel to the hit Captain Marvel movie (from 2019) and a continuation of the series Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion. The plot in The Marvels follows three connected superheroes: Carol Danvers played by Brie Larson, Kamala Khan played by Iman Vellani, and Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris (the daughter of Lashana Lynch's character). When they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers, the trio must team up to determine why and stop whoever did this. The full cast also includes Samuel L. "The cuddliest Christmas film this year." What an intense voiceover voice for this adorable film. Blue Fox Entertainment has revealed an official US trailer for a made-for-kids spirited holiday movie called Teddy's Christmas. This Norwegian movie first opened in Norway last year around this same time, and it has been dubbed into English for release in US theaters this fall. Christmas peace falls over a small town in Norway, but at the Christmas market there's hectic activity. Mariann discovers a teddy bear at the top shelf. Mariann wants to win the Teddy, but someone else does. But Teddy feels a connection with her and the two end up on an adventure together to reconnect in this remarkable & heartwarming Christmas story. Featuring Zachary Levi as the English voice of Teddy, with a cast including Marte Klerck-Nilssen, Jan Gunnar Røise, Nader Khademi, & Mariann Hole. There's not much to this trailer, strangely quite short. But it's meant to get the attention of kids so they'll want to watch it (and also want their own Teddy), not really for adults. Take a quick trip into the past to explore legendary monster puppeteer Jim Henson's archives. Throughout October, Adam Savage's Tested YouTube channel has been posting videos from their visit to the Henson shop in NYC. One of the best videos is his time spent with The Jim Henson Legacy looking at old archival items while talking about Henson with vice-president Karen Falk. One of Jim Henson's Creature Shops is located in Queens, NY, and it's situated right next door to the "Henson Legacy", the organization dedicated to preserving his history and managing his archives. Savage looks through old artwork and sketches by Jim Henson, while discussing his early work in the 1960s, before he started Sesame Street. As with most of these videos, Savage is clearly geeking out digging into to all this old stuff, and that's part of the joy in watching this.
