Watch: PTA’s New Music Video featuring Thom Yorke for ‘Wall of Eyes’
The latest Paul Thomas Anderson film is here! Well, not exactly a film, just another music video from the master filmmaker. PTA has directed the video for the song "Wall of Eyes" from the band The Smile. He's obviously involved with The Smile, as it's a new band made up of his friends - Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood along with drummer Tom Skinner. Their new album will be launching in January, and this music video is the first one made to help promote the release. They filmed it just a few weeks ago! The credits on YT state this was shot on location in London at the The Mildmay Club (see Google Maps) in late October. This B&W "Wall of Eyes" music video features Yorke hanging out around this bar staring at the camera and singing. There are also a number of shots that are literally eyes (or an eye) on walls. Of course. Always cool to see PTA making something fun and experimental, trying out some new ideas. This reminds me of the wonderful Junun music film ...
Chris Pratt Voices the Orange Cat in ‘The Garfield Movie’ First Trailer
"Color me: intrigued" Sony Pictures has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for the next upcoming Garfield movie, currently set to arrive in theaters in May of 2024 next summer. "Monday just got a whole lot better." The Garfield Movie, as it is officially called, is directed by Mark Dindal, the animation filmmaker who also directed The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little. The funky plot features Garfield reuniting with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat, then ending up involved in a high-stakes heist. The film stars Chris Pratt as the voice of the sarcastic, lasagna-loving tabby, alongside the voices of Samuel L. Jackson as his father Vic, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Ving Rhames. This is a fun intro, similar to the recent Scooby Doo movie where they show Scoob as a pup, this time starting with Garfield as a kitten living on the street until Jon adopts him. And yes, most of this trailer is about his obsession with lasagna and eating and how that's all he wants to do. Mmmmm ...

Watch: Vibrant Animated Short ‘Acid Rain’ About a Girl Going to a Rave
"No idea where we are." Remember raves? Anyone miss them? After watching this short film, you might be glad they're not happening much anymore. Not always the best experience. Acid Rain is an animated short from Poland made by animation filmmaker Tomek Popakul. This first premiered in 2019 and we missed it then, but thanks to Short of the Week we have a chance to experience it now. When a runaway teenage girl meets Skinny, a peculiar drug dealer, the infatuation quickly shows its darker side. "With a sound design as impressive as its visuals, director Tomek Popakul has created an animated trip with sociopolitical layers and great beats." This girl ends up on an intense trip with psychedelic mushrooms, traveling to an underground rave in the forest where she encounters all kinds of strange people. The voice cast features Daria Bułka, Piotr Bułka, & Maciej Miszczak. It' a trippy short that runs long, but I dig the imagery and honest story.
Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip on this debuting on YT. Brief synopsis for Acid Rain ...

"There's something in the trees..." Dark Sky Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller from New Zealand titled Loop Track, arriving in the US this December to watch on VOD. This first premiered at the 2023 New Zealand Film Festival earlier in the year, and it also screened at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival. A four-day journey turns into a fight for survival – this is a psychological thriller about Ian, who wants to get as far away from humanity as possible, into the New Zealand bush. Some other individuals get attached to him. And he has the feeling that they are being followed. Is that real though? Far from society, Ian starts to question his sanity before plunging into a bloody battle for his own survival. Writer / director Thomas Sainsbury also stars as Ian, with a small cast including Hayden J. Weal, Tawanda Manyimo, Kate Simmonds, and Noa Campbell. This looks good - there's some unsettling things going on, and the arrival of this giant monster flips it all upside-down. Is it a dinosaur? Or ...
