Second Teaser for the Harrowing Survival Thriller ‘Society of the Snow’

Netflix has revealed a second teaser for Spanish director J.A. Bayona's latest film Society of the Snow, which premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival. Based on a true story, which was already turned into the movie Alive in the 90s. In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been flying a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes mountains. Only 29 of the 45 passengers survived. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive. A story of endurance and perseverance in the extreme. This is such a frightening story of survival. The film's full ensemble cast includes: Enzo Vogrincic, Agustín Pardella, Matías Recalt, Esteban Bigliardi, Rafael Federman, Fernando Contigiani García, Diego Vegezzi, Esteban Kukuriczka, Francisco Romero, Valentino Alonso, Tomás Wolf, Agustín Della Corte, Felipe Otaño, Andy Pruss, Blas Polidori, Felipe Ramusio, and Simón Hempe. Touching Trailer for ‘A Still Small Voice’ Doc About a Hospital Chaplain

"Deeply moving and unforgettable." Abramorama has released the official trailer for a documentary titled A Still Small Voice, from filmmaker Luke Lorentzen, who last made the acclaimed Midnight Family. This initially premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won the Best Director prize at the end of the fest. An aspiring hospital chaplain named Margaret (aka Mati) begins a yearlong residency in spiritual care, only to discover that to successfully tend to her patients, she must look deep within herself. Described in reviews as "one of the most profound and rewarding experiences any film offers this year." Through Mati's experiences with her patients, her struggle with professional burnout, and her own spiritual questioning, we gain new perspectives on how meaningful connection can be and how painful its absence is. As Mati and her patients take stock of their lives and experiences, space opens up to reflect on our own. This looks like a touching, one-of-a-kind film that seems to be as deeply spiritual as any film can be. View below. Here's the first official trailer for ...

A Final Trailer for ‘Nyad’ Film – True Story About Swimmer Diana Nyad

"I don't believe in imposed limitations. I don't believe in any limitations." Netflix is releasing their new film Nyad in limited theaters this weekend, before it arrives for streaming starting on November 3rd in a few more weeks. A few days ago, we posted a behind-the-scenes preview showing the filmmakers working on the set and in the water to make this film. It premiered at the 2023 Telluride Film Festival, playing at London and TIFF recently. Annette Bening, Jodie Foster, and Rhys Ifans all star in NYAD to tell a remarkable true story of athlete Diana Nyad who, at the age of 60 with the help of her best friend & coach, commits to achieving her life-long dream: a 110-mile open ocean swim from Cuba to Florida. Intense! Yes it all really happened! It's also the first narrative feature made by the Oscar-winning documentary filmmakers Jimmy Chin & Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, known for Meru, Free Solo, The Rescue, and this year's Wild Life (great films). I'm looking forward to this, at the very least to spend time with Nyad and ...

"When there's a whisk, there's a way." Bleecker Street has revealed an official trailer for the film version of the hit Broadway show Waitress: The Musical, which is coming to movie theaters nationwide in early December. Based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelly (and starring Keri Russell), the Waitress musical was one of the longest-running shows in recent Broadway history, playing a total of more than 1500 performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. It first opened in Broadway in 2016. The show returned for a limited engagement at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre to celebrate Broadway's re-opening in the fall of 2021. The Broadway show stars Sara Bareilles (who also wrote the music & lyrics) as Jenna, who's joined by Drew Gehling, Charity Dawson, Dakin Matthews, Christopher Fitzgerald, Eric Anderson, and Anastacia McCleskey. Behind-the-Scenes Look at ‘The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’ Movie

"We get to sort of reinvent the world of Panem." Lionsgate has revealed an extended 5-minute featurette for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that is called "Welcome Back to Panem." This prequel is set 64 years before Katniss voluntees as tribute. Leading up to the 10th Hunger Games, Snow mentors and develops feelings for the female District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray. We've already posted two other official trailers, both of which look good, and this adds more striking footage into the mix. Rachel Zegler (from West Side Story) stars as Lucy Gray Baird, and Tom Blyth co-stars as a young Coriolanus Snow. It's directed again by Francis Lawrence, who also made The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay movies. The cast also including Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Burn Gorman, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Fionnula Flanagan, and Ashley Liao. They discuss many of the elements of returning to Panem yet redesigning it with a different look and feel. It's still amusing how much of it is literally just buildings in Berlin CGI'd as Panem. Also glad they ...

‘Faraway Downs’ Trailer – Luhrmann’s ‘Australia’ Re-Edited as a Series

"The only thing you really own is your story... just trying to live a good one." Surprise!! After the success of Baz Luhrmann's Elvis last year, they're revisiting one of his least successful films. Hulu revealed an official trailer for the mini-series Faraway Downs, which is a re-edit of Luhrmann's 2008 movie Australia. We actually covered this movie extensively back in 2008 when it was first released, including with editorials and more. "An iconic duo, to say the least." Faraway Downs is the reimagining of the film Australia told in six parts about an English aristocrat & a rough-hewn cattle drover who join forces to protect the million-acre cattle ranch of her late husband. Although Hulu describes Australia as a "cinematic masterpiece", it didn't do as well as they hoped; now it seems it will play better as a series. Nicole Kidman & Hugh Jackman co-star, with Brandon Walters, David Wenham, Bryan Brown, Jack Thompson, and the late David Gulpilil. I forgot how good this movie looks, I was a big fan of it back in 2008. And I'm curious ...

Quirky New Promo Featurette for ‘Poor Things’ featuring Emma Stone

"We need to experience everything, Bella, this makes us whole." Searchlight Pictures has debuted another new 60-second preview for Yorgos Lanthimos film Poor Things, produced by and starring Emma Stone. It won the Golden Lion top prize at the 2023 Venice Film Festival and will likely go on to win many awards this year. One of THE most innovative & brilliant films of 2023. The strange new comedy tells the incredible tale & fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the rather unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. This stars Emma Stone as Bella with Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, and Christopher Abbott. There have already been a trailer and a teaser from earlier in the year, but this promo featurette includes Stone talking about the film along with some critics' quotes and a few extra shots not shown yet. She sums it up well, describing her dance with autonomy as she ventures out into the world. I've seen it twice already and it's still one of my favorite films of the ...
