Netflix has revealed a second teaser for Spanish director J.A. Bayona's latest film Society of the Snow, which premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival. Based on a true story, which was already turned into the movie Alive in the 90s. In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been flying a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes mountains. Only 29 of the 45 passengers survived. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive. A story of endurance and perseverance in the extreme. This is such a frightening story of survival. "When there's a whisk, there's a way." Bleecker Street has revealed an official trailer for the film version of the hit Broadway show Waitress: The Musical, which is coming to movie theaters nationwide in early December. Based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelly (and starring Keri Russell), the Waitress musical was one of the longest-running shows in recent Broadway history, playing a total of more than 1500 performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. It first opened in Broadway in 2016. The show returned for a limited engagement at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre to celebrate Broadway's re-opening in the fall of 2021. The Broadway show stars Sara Bareilles (who also wrote the music & lyrics) as Jenna, who's joined by Drew Gehling, Charity Dawson, Dakin Matthews, Christopher Fitzgerald, Eric Anderson, and Anastacia McCleskey. "We get to sort of reinvent the world of Panem." Lionsgate has revealed an extended 5-minute featurette for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that is called "Welcome Back to Panem." This prequel is set 64 years before Katniss voluntees as tribute. Leading up to the 10th Hunger Games, Snow mentors and develops feelings for the female District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray. We've already posted two other official trailers, both of which look good, and this adds more striking footage into the mix. Rachel Zegler (from West Side Story) stars as Lucy Gray Baird, and Tom Blyth co-stars as a young Coriolanus Snow. It's directed again by Francis Lawrence, who also made The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay movies. The cast also including Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Burn Gorman, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Fionnula Flanagan, and Ashley Liao. "The only thing you really own is your story... just trying to live a good one." Surprise!! After the success of Baz Luhrmann's Elvis last year, they're revisiting one of his least successful films. Hulu revealed an official trailer for the mini-series Faraway Downs, which is a re-edit of Luhrmann's 2008 movie Australia. We actually covered this movie extensively back in 2008 when it was first released, including with editorials and more. "An iconic duo, to say the least." Faraway Downs is the reimagining of the film Australia told in six parts about an English aristocrat & a rough-hewn cattle drover who join forces to protect the million-acre cattle ranch of her late husband. Although Hulu describes Australia as a "cinematic masterpiece", it didn't do as well as they hoped; now it seems it will play better as a series. "This place... you know, it's not for you." MGM + Amazon Studios have revealed the main official trailer for Saltburn, the second film from Promising Young Woman director Emerald Fennell. This just premiered at the Telluride and London Film Festivals this fall, with a release set for November/December. Seems like it will be a very hot and wild and entrancing experience. Barry Keoghan stars as Oliver Quick, a student at Oxford University who finds himself drawn into the world of a charming and aristocratic classmate. Felix invites him to his eccentric family's sprawling estate for a summer never to be forgotten. The film's eccentric ensemble cast also includes Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, Archie Madekwe, Carey Mulligan, Paul Rhys, Lolly Adefope, and Ewan Mitchell. Both of the trailers for this film are fantastic, setting up and also promising a truly mesmerizing trip into the hedonistic world of rich people. I hope it's as good as it looks! "We're killers, D'Artagnan, like it or not." Pathe has revealed the first official trailer for the epic sequel The Three Musketeers 2: Milady, arriving in theaters in Europe this December. This is the next follow-up to the new French version of The Three Musketeers story by Alexandre Dumas, adapted for the big screen by filmmaker Martin Bourboulon. The first The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan movie opened earlier in 2023, and reviews were quite good. Milady is the second film of a two-part epic saga, wrapping up this emotional story with both movies out by the end of the year. D'Artagnan is forced to join forces with Milady to save Constance, who was kidnapped before his eyes. But as war is declared and Athos, Porthos and Aramis have already joined the front, a secret from the past shatters old alliances.
