First Teaser for ‘Anyone But You’ with Sydney Sweeney & Glen Powell
"We're at a wedding, a million miles away from home, who knows what could happen..." Sony Pictures has revealed a teaser trailer for a new romantic comedy called Anyone But You, an original creation from co-writer / director Will Gluck and co-writer Ilana Wolpert (story editor on "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series"). We've seen this story so many times before, here we go again. This sensual & funny comedy is set to arrive in theaters in December right before the end of the year during the holiday season. "Just a little tease." After an amazing first date, Bea and Ben's fiery attraction turns ice cold--until they find themselves unexpectedly reunited at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell star, with Alexandra Shipp, Darren Barnet, Bryan Brown, Joe Davidson, Gata, Rachel Griffiths, Dermot Mulroney, and also Hadley Robinson. This doesn't look that fresh, and they're really overselling the sex. Maybe it'll work out anyway.

Wolfe, the film features a huge cast: Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, CCH Pounder, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Johnny Ramey, Michael Potts, with Jeffrey Wright and Audra McDonald. "You were meant to come here... So was I." MGM+ has unveiled the full trailer for an intriguing sci-fi series called Beacon 23, set to launch in November. Beacon 23 was originally developed as a Spectrum Original series as part of an effort to entice cable subscribers, but this division was shut down and projects were sold off. It ended up at MGM and is ready to go. The story unfolds in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way in the 23rd Century following Aster (starring Lena Headey), a government agent, and Halan (Stephan James), a stoic ex-military man working at Beacon 23. Emile Hirsch is a Court Stenographer in Revenge Film ‘Walden’ Trailer
"I hear innocence, and I hear evil. Sometimes... evil walks away." Uncork'd has revealed the trailer for a film called Walden, a revenge thriller written & directed by Mick Davis. This is getting a limited theatrical release in November before heading to VOD to watch. Walden Dean, an unassuming court stenographer in a small southern town, he discovers he is dying. So he decides to exact revenge on criminals who escaped their prosecution. The poster art for this has a "Dexter" vibe, which is probably what they're aiming for anyway. The "scales of justice" in blood is amusing, too. Starring Emile Hirsch as the titular Walden, with Shane West, Kelli Garner, Tania Raymonde, Steve Coulter, & David Keith. While this has a good concept, the footage looks like a made-for-TV Saturday night special presentation. Not much to worth watching here.

Full US Trailer for ‘Polaris’ – Snowy Canadian Post-Apocalyptic Thriller
"An epic adventure to return home." Epic Pictures Group has revealed the US trailer for the Canadian post-apocalyptic indie thriller called Polaris, from filmmaker Kirsten Carthew. This initially premiered at last year's Fantasia Film Festival (we posted a teaser trailer just before then) and it stopped by many other fests last year and earlier this year. It's now ready for a VOD release in Canada / US this fall for anyone who still wants to watch... Set in the frozen world of a post-apocalyptic 2144, a young warrior girl raised by a polar bear must fight to survive after she is captured and escapes from a brutal rival tribe. Carthew describes it as "Mad Max in the Arctic, an origin story of a world gone to shame that builds from themes of environmental stewardship/horror." Adding that, "it is inspired by eco-feminism and the need for significant cultural and sustainable change." Starring Viva Lee, Khamisa Wilsher, and Muriel Dutil. I already caught this film last year at a fest, and it's pretty good but it's not the truly great instant classic ...
