Masked Strangers in Unsettling Horror Film ‘Ghosts of the Void’ Trailer
"What do you want?!" Slated has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film called Ghosts of the Void, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jason Miller. After playing at fests this year, it is set to debut in November on VOD and in limited theaters in October. Spending the night in her car, a newly homeless woman wrestles with exhaustion, her crumbling marriage, and the threat of mysterious, masked strangers. "Jason Miller carefully crafts a riveting, slow-burn thriller that delves deep into the psychological depths of a crumbling marriage stuck in the middle of nowhere. Ghosts of the Void exposes the fragility of the human psyche in the face of adversity, while leaving audiences to question the thin line between reality and the supernatural." How's that for a pitch? The film stars Tedra Millan and Michael Reagan. Looks a bit scrappy, but there seems to be a strong intent in this film, that has something to say. Check it out below.

Official 4K Restoration Trailer for UK Classic ‘Santa Claus: The Movie’
"This year he REALLY IS coming to town!" Studiocanal UK has revealed a new trailer for Santa Claus: The Movie, to promote their 4K re-release. "We're delighted to announce that a magical new 4k restoration of the perennial Christmas Classic, Santa Claus: The Movie, from director Jeannot Szwarc will return to cinemas this festive period" starting in late November. The film originally opened in 1985 for the holidays and became a favorite worldwide, though more commonly in the UK than the US. It's not the same as The Santa Clause with Tim Allen, or many of the other animated classics. Santa Claus: The Movie stars David Huddleston as Santa, Dudley Moore, John Lithgow, Judy Cornwell, Jeffrey Kramer, and many others. The legend of Santa Claus is put in jeopardy when an unscrupulous toy manufacturer attempts to take over Christmas. This is definitely a good one to catch up with and show the kids (or grandkids) if you've never seen it before. 🎅🏼🎄 Though oddly no US re-release set this year, as far as we know. Enjoy it anyway.

Turkey’s Re-Imagining of Frankenstein: ‘Creature’ Series Official Trailer
"We're helpless against death. You have to accept that." Or can we...? Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for an intense new Turkish series called Creature, adapted from the novel by Mary Shelly. This Turkish re-imagining of Shelly's classic Frankenstein story is set during the Ottoman Empire many years ago. One of the most fundamental questions of humanity, "death and beyond", is explored in Çagan Irmak's series. The biggest wish of Ziya, an adventurous, rebellious & excited young medical student, is to be a good physician and cure many epidemics that medicine cannot find a cure for. His path crosses with Ihsan, a fellow medical doctor, balancing the fine line between genius and insanity. However these two estranged, wounded souls will pay the price for the forbidden experiment they were brave enough to conduct. The series stars Erkan Kolçak Köstendil as İhsan & Taner Ölmez as Ziya, with Engin Benli, Şifanur Gül, Bülent Şakrak, Sema Çeyrekbaşı, and Devrim Yakut. This looks like a dark and thrilling series that focuses more on the historical aspects than the Frankenstein myth. Might be ...

Official Trailer for ‘The Shepherd’ Short feat. Travolta & Ben Radcliffe
"All I wanted was to come home to spend Christmas with you." Disney has unveiled an official trailer for a short film called The Shepherd, based on the book about a RAF pilot's miraculous flight. This project is co-produced by none other than fellow filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón, who's enthusiastic about adapting this story. On Christmas Eve in 1957, a fighter pilot on his way home from a distant mission gets lost mid-flight over water and needs a miracle to land safely. It will, of course, be streaming this December just in time for the holidays. Cuarón explains: "I was a long-time admirer of this story and, being old friends with Iain, he was the perfect match to bring this beloved narrative to life on film for the first time." I'm nice to hear this kind of support. He was inspired by the success of last year's short Le Pupille, which we've also added below. The 38-minute film stars Ben Radcliffe, Steven Mackintosh, Luca Slade, Millie Kent, Asan N'Jie, and John Travolta. This looks much better than it sounds - tons ...

"Everyone is after this treasure!" NBC's Peacock has debuted an official trailer for Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, a feature comedy from the SNL comedians. This was initially set to play in theaters, but is now getting a streaming release in November on Peacock. "Please Don't Destroy" is a comedy group from NYC consisting of Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, who began collaborating as students at NYU. The group was originally founded in 2017, based on an act titled Please Don't Destroy My Farm. The film follows the three "Please Don't Destroy" friends as deadbeat grown-ups. When they realize that they don't like their life trajectory, they set off to find a gold treasure that is rumored to be buried in the nearby mountain. Martin, John, and Ben co-star, along with Conan O'Brien, Bowen Yang, Meg Stalter, X Mayo, Nichole Sakura, Cedric Yarbrough, Sunita Mani, and featuring John Goodman as the narrator. New US Trailer for Acclaimed Estonian Doc ‘Smoke Sauna Sisterhood’
"You've always had the courage to run away, to do something else, this is something I admire so much." Greenwich Ent. has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film called Smoke Sauna Sisterhood, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival at the start of the year. It earned rave reviews and won the Best Director award. In the intimate film, multiple women share their innermost secrets and intimate experiences inside an Estonian smoke sauna. Cleansing their bodies and baring their souls, they embrace the healing power of sisterhood. This wonderfully empowering doc celebrates the centuries-old smoke sauna tradition, recognized on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. These women share their innermost secrets and intimate experiences, "washing off the shame trapped in their bodies and regaining their strength through a sense of communion." I watched this during Sundance and it is indeed a terrific film, super powerful in its intimacy & honesty. Highly recommend discovering this.

Full Trailer for ‘The Curse’ Series with Nathan Fielder & Emma Stone
"This isn't your typical home flipping show... My homes are reflecting the 'local community.'" Sure they are... A24 has revealed the official trailer for a crazy brilliant new satire series called The Curse, a strange "genre-bending" creation straight from the mad genius minds of Nathan Fielder and filmmaker Benny Safdie (one half of the Safdie Brothers). It's premiering at the 2023 New York Film Fest before it wraps up soon. The Curse is a scripted comedy that explores how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic HGTV show. Starring Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder, and Benny Safdie. But that's just the start... "From this premise, which nimbly touches upon inescapable American issues of race, class, and capital, Fielder and Safdie branch out into an increasingly tangled network of ethical and moral gray zones, expertly balancing the tender and the merciless." This looks amazing!! Totally F'ed up commentary on how depraved and selfish many of these TV show creators are, and how nothing is truly about ...
