"If Pat was still here, she would have agreed with me." Strand Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for an indie film titled All Shall Be Well set in Hong Kong, made by the filmmaker Ray Yeung. This sapphic drama originally premiered at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and it also played at the Hong Kong, Seattle, and Sydney Film Festivals. Angie & Pat (starring Patra Au & Lin-Lin Li, respectively) are a lesbian couple living in Hong Kong who have been together for over 4 decades. After Pat's unexpected death, Angie finds herself at the mercy of her extended family as she struggles to retain both her dignity as well as the home that they shared for over thirty years. Also starring Tai-Bo, So-Ying Hui, Chung-Hang Leung, Fish Liew, & Rachel Leung. Reviews say that the film takes "the approachable genre of the family drama and [places] it in the context of topical issues in today’s queer Hong Kong." The title is a reference to the 1992 L.A. uprising after the Rodney King verdict – it's set on the very first night of the riots. This is also Ray Liotta's final film appearance and the film is dedicated to his memory. We've featured the other cryptic teasers before as well as the main official trailer for this film a few months ago. FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing eerie evidence of the occult. Harker soon discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. "I lost one identity, and the 'real me' came out." HBO has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled Quad Gods, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jess Jacklin. This recently premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC last month, and it will be be streaming on Max later in July for everyone to watch. Quad Gods follows the lives of a group of New Yorkers with quadriplegia who meet in a neuro-rehabilitation lab at Mount Sinai Hospital and create the world's first all-quadriplegic Esports team. "I have become the person I was meant to be." The film follows Richard, Blake, and Prentice – the world's first all-quadriplegic e-sports team – as they navigate life in New York City, confront ableism, and pursue their dreams to compete as athletes. Tribeca adds more via their description: "Providing a unique lens into both gaming and disability, this captivating story challenges assumptions and spotlights the restorative power of resilience, passion and found community." Sony Pictures has revealed the official trailer for an action thriller survival movie called Hijack 1971, based on a true story of a flight in winter of 1971. It just opened in South Korea last week, and will also be opening in select US theaters starting next week - glad to see them finally releasing films the same time they open in other countries. Hijack 1971, also known as just Hijacking in Korean, depicts the story of people fighting for their lives in an extreme situation when a passenger plane is hijacked in the air space of Korea in 1971. Starring Ha Jung-woo as Tae-in, the first officer of the plane; Sung Dong-il as Gyu-sik, captain of the flight; Yeo Jin-goo as Yong-dae, the terrorist hijacker; and Chae Soo-bin as Lee Ok-soon, a flight attendant on the flight. A bit of exciting release date news from Hollywood this evening. Warner Bros has set a new release date for the next Denis Villeneuve movie. It will be opening in theaters nationwide on December 18th, 2026 - also in IMAX. The only catch so far is they didn't reveal a title or what the movie is, or any details beyond that it is Villeneuve's next. One rumor is could actually be Dune 3 - also known as Dune: Messiah, which is apparently being prepared & pushed ahead. The other possibility is an already-in-the-works adaptation of the book Nuclear War: A Scenario, a chilling look at what might actually happen if a nuke went off. Though of course there's a possibility it might end up being something else entirely different. Villeneuve was already quoted during the Dune 2 press tour saying that he wanted to make something else other than (another) Dune next, but we'll have to wait and find out exactly what it is in the works. Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Mexican kidnapping thriller titled Non Negotiable, starring Mauricio Ochmann as a hostage negotiator. This film is a strange comedy thriller mash-up set for release streaming on Netflix worldwide at the end of July. Hostage negotiator Alan Binder (aka Bender) is called to rescue the president from a kidnapping, only to find himself also mediating to save his wife and marriage, too. Binder is a skillful hostage negotiator, the best in Mexico, who will face the most crucial case of his career when the President and his lover are kidnapped.
