Awesome Full Trailer for India’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Massive Sci-Fi Movie
"A new world will rise." Damn!! Fire this up right away - it's a must watch. An incredible full trailer has dropped for an epic Indian sci-fi movie called Kalki 2898-AD. We first posted about this movie about a year ago when the first teasers debuted at SDCC. Now it has a final release date set - June 27th worldwide (so, everywhere, hopefully?!) - and one amazing new official trailer to enjoy. This is apparently India's most expensive movie ever made; it really does look like they spared no expensive making it massive & exciting. Plot details are sparse so far, but it's a Hindu religion inspired epic story with imagery that is reminiscent of Villeneuve's Dune. In Kalki 2898 AD, Indian mega star Prabhas plays a modern-day embodiment of Lord Vishnu who arrives to help save Earth and protect it from evil forces. Directed By Nag Ashwin, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Hassan, & Disha Patani. There's tons of extra footage in this new trailer compared to the last one, and the VFX are looking ...
June Squibb, Deadpool and Wolverine Remind You to Turn Off Phones
"I have a very particular set of skills... Skills I have acquired over a very long acting career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you." Do we need to remind you again?? TURN OFF YOUR PHONES. No phones, no texting, no talking during movies at the theater. No arguing, no excuses. Yes that means you. And you. All of you. Two new promos have debuted for upcoming movies featuring the characters from those movies reminding people to turn off their phones during screenings. The first one is for Deadpool & Wolverine, which opens in theaters at the end of July this summer. This promo spot has been playing in theaters around the world, and a leaked version has been uploaded so you can hear them cursing people out for using their phone (hell yeah, you tell 'em!!). The other promo features the incomparable June Squibb from the hilarious indie film Thelma, which opens in theaters at the end of June in just a few weeks (watch the trailer). The video with Squibb is an Alamo Drafthouse creation, ...
Interview: Composer Tom Holkenborg on Crafting ‘Mad Max’ Scores
"I consider myself, I call it, a 'full contact composer.' I'm not a guy that sits behind a piano with a piece of paper..." Now playing in theaters worldwide is the newest awesome George Miller post-apocalyptic action movie - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The movie kicks ass and so does its score. Just like with Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa features a score composed by Dutch musician Tom Holkenborg. Before getting into composing scores for movies, Holkenborg went under the moniker "Junkie XL" and was a techno DJ and producer crafting electronica remixes and tracks galore. After achieving mega fame as Junkie XL, he moved into composing - one of his first scores is for the video game movie DOA: Dead or Alive (2006). He later composed the scores for the sequels 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), before being hired by George Miller to craft the intense rock n' roll score for Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). It's one of my all-time favorite scores, I still listen to it all the ...
Watch: Disney Animation’s Brand New Donald Duck Short ‘D.I.Y. Duck’
Everyone's favorite "Donald" is back! The iconic character Donald Duck returns in a brand new short film made by Disney Animation Studios. This premiered for streaming this past weekend to celebrate the 90th birthday, rather 90th anniversary, of the character created by the original Walt Disney and his animators (specifically Dick Lundy). The extra grumpy duck made his first cartoon appearance on June 9th, 1934 as a supporting character in the short The Wise Little Hen, and most recently appeared in Once Upon a Studio. The new short film is called D.I.Y. Duck, and it features Donald trying to fix a lightbulb in his home, going back-n-forth to the hardware store as more problems arise during his attempts to get the new bulb to work. Disney has also re-released a few remastered classic Donald Duck short films, including Crazy Over Daisy and Out on a Limb, with all of them launching for streaming on Disney+ for audiences to enjoy. This is only 2 mins long and it's classic cartoon comedy at its best. How many ducks does it take to ...
Penny Lane’s Doc ‘Confessions of a Good Samaritan’ Official Trailer
"The point is that you are helping a stranger." Sandbox Films has revealed the trailer for the documentary film titled Confessions of a Good Samaritan, the latest from excellent doc filmmaker Penny Lane (also of Nuts!, Hail Satan?, Listening to Kenny G). This first premiered at last year's SXSW Film Festival, and it will be debuting in June in select theaters. Director Penny Lane's decision to become a "good Samaritan" by giving one of her kidneys to a stranger turns into a funny and moving personal quest to understand the nature of altruism. Her new doc Confessions of a Good Samaritan is a provocative inquiry into the science, history, and ethics of organ transplantation, asking an ancient question in a whole new way: Who is your neighbor & what do you owe them? Sandbox Films says "we love films that ask big, messy questions at the intersection of science & society, and this film is one for the ages." Lane adds that: "I hope people will watch the film and feel motivated or inspired to consider organ donation. But the ...
Doc About the Broadway Show ‘Slave Play. Not a Movie. A Play.’ Trailer
"What do you think this documentary is about?" HBO has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled Slave Play. Not a Movie. A Play., from the acclaimed playwright Jeremy O. Harris. As the title indicates, this isn't an adaptation, it's about the play and the audience's reaction to it. It follows Harris as he workshops and mines "Slave Play", the (controversial) play that thrust him into the spotlight. It first opened on Broadway in 2019 and received 12 Tony noms (but didn't win any). In his doc directorial debut, Harris confronts the debate surrounding the play received head-on, reflecting both on its success, including 12 Tony Award nominations, and the outrage it provoked. Probing the incendiary nature of the text, Harris and his actors search for the truth within each of the eight roles that play on and subvert racial stereotypes and power inequalities within interracial couples. Challenging both our own history and modern paradigms, Slave Play. Not a Movie. A Play. invites us to live in uncomfortable spaces and reimagine the possibilities of theater itself. This looks ...
Official Trailer for Indie Dramedy ‘The Good Half’ Starring Nick Jonas
"Thinking back on it now, it feels like there's two halves of my life." Utopia has unveiled an official trailer for an indie film titled The Good Half, which first premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival. This is getting a quick theatrical debut in July (with Q&A screenings for two nights only) before hitting VOD later this summer. Nick Jonas, one third of the famous swanky boys known as the Jonas Brothers, stars as Renn Wheeland who returns home to Cleveland for his mother's funeral. Once there, he forges new relationships while healing old ones (featuring a cast with Brittany Snow, David Arquette, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Walsh, and Elisabeth Shue), before confronting his problems and trying to face his grief. The festival also adds: "featuring grounded & moving performances by a fantastic ensemble cast, this tender family dramedy offers an honest and nuanced approach to grief, regret, and healing." This seems sweet and charming, with some clever humor worked into the script about grief and loss. Worth a look if this sounds appealing to you.

Full Trailer for ‘Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Series on P+
"The greatest, bravest teenage brothers are forced to fight solo." Paramount+ has launched the full official trailer for the animated spin-off series titled Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, debuting in August later this summer. This is a continuation of the massively successful animated movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem from last year, one of my favorites as well. Set after the events of the 2023 movie, the Turtles arrive on the streets of New York, where they are faced with new threats & team up with old allies, to navigate through teenage life. They end up fighting a villain known as "Bishop" and her robot henchmen trying to get rid of mutants. The trailer sets up the "they must fight on their own" concept quite well. Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon reprise their roles from the film as the Turtles, alongside Ayo Edebiri reprising her role as April O'Neil. This series is the 5th animated TMNT TV show, and was originally announced last year along with the sequel to Mutant Mayhem. They're ...
All-Out Bonkers Final Trailer for ‘Exploding Kittens’ Series on Netflix
"I'm gonna keep you from ruining my creation no matter what!" This is a must see final trailer! Netflix has revealed another final official trailer for the comedy series Exploding Kittens, which will be streaming in July. Ready to watch in just another month. From the Executive Producers of Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill, and The Office comes an adult animated comedy series adapted from the popular card game. The eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell reaches epic proportions when both God and the Devil are sent to Earth - in the bodies of chunky house cats. This series sets up the ultimate fight between good versus evil…except, Godcat is distracted by a pigeon in the yard and Devilcat is busy napping on someone's laptop. With the voices of Tom Ellis as God Cat & Sasheer Zamata as Devilcat, Suzy Nakamura, Mark Proksch, Ally Maki, and Kenny Yates, among others. This is looking crazy good! It's as bonkers and imaginative as Rick & Morty, or so it seems, with a plethora of WTF-is-going-on glimpses in the second half ...
Ridiculously Bad Trailer for Horror Comedy B-Movie ‘Cocaine Werewolf’
"You can run, you can hide, but he will always sniff you out." Cleopatra Ent. has revealed the official trailer for an horror comedy B-movie creation called Cocaine Werewolf. After the official Hollywood production of Cocaine Bear, the B-movie filmmakers went & made Cocaine Shark, and now we have Cocaine Werewolf to laugh at. Cocaine, cash and a crew filming a horror movie in the mysterious woods of northern PA clash when an unexpected visit from a Werewolf literally enters the picture – with deadly results! Featuring music from the bands The 69 Cats, Front Line Assembly, Hawkestrel, Switchblade Symphony, Synaesthesia, Pink Fairies, The Brains, Mike Pinera, Hollywood After Dark, and more. They're promoting the movie's "Gothic Industrial Rock" soundtrack more than the cast or anything else. This stars Titus Himmelberger, Brice Kennedy, Jeff Kirkendall, Marie DeLorenzo, and Yolie Canales. It was filmed in Wellsboro, PA - a small town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. It will also premiere there with a special screening, then on Blu-ray & VOD later this year. Yes, this looks as bad as it sounds, ...
