Festival Teaser for Strange Grainy Horror ‘Dead Mail’ Playing at SXSW

"The one to strike fear is the man who is alone." An early festival promo teaser has debuted for the indie horror thriller film titled Dead Mail, the second feature from indie genre filmmakers Joe DeBoer & Kyle McConaghy (also of BAB in 2020). This is premiering at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival soon and this trailer will give genre fans an early look at what's going down in this. Official Trailer for Love Story ‘Parachute’ – Directed by Brittany Snow

Vertical has debuted the trailer for an indie romantic drama called Parachute, the feature directorial debut from actress Brittany Snow. This originally premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival one year ago. It also played at the Dallas, Woodstock, Raindance, & Denver Film Festivals last year. From director Brittany Snow, Parachute tells the story of Riley and Ethan, who must navigate blossoming love and friendship and intimacy while trying to overcome combustible personal struggles. The film focuses on Riley, who was recently released from rehab after struggling with eating disorders and body image. She meets Ethan and finds herself navigating the line between love and a new addiction. The film stars Courtney Eaton as Riley and Thomas Mann as Ethan, with Francesca Reale, Gina Rodriguez, Joel McHale, Dave Bautista, and Scott Mescudi. Watch: Best Picture Nominees Showcase for the 2024 Academy Awards

"You see beyond the world we live in... There is a price to be paid for that." The Academy has revealed their 2024 Best Picture Nominee video just before the Oscar ceremony this weekend. This wonderful 2-min montage brings together all 10 of the nominees – from Barbie to Maestro to Oppenheimer to Poor Things – to reminds us why we love movies so much. And highlight each of the nominees and their powerful themes and the stories they're telling. The Academy also created one of these montages last year – though it played during the ceremony it was only during a break. This video was edited by a friend of the site, best known as "Sleepy Skunk", who has been creating movie trailer mashups and retrospectives for years (view them all there). This one is just as beautiful as always. His final shot ending with the fire from Oppenheimer is pretty much a nod that it's going to win a bunch of Oscars in a few days. Festival Trailer for Colombian Film ‘Malta’ Following a Young Woman

"My friends are betting on how many times I invite you out before giving up..." An early festival promo trailer has debuted online for an indie film from Colombia titled Malta, premiering at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival this month. This trailer is out just before its release to build up some SXSW buzz, and it's expected to show up at more festivals later this year. Keep an eye out for it! The second feature by director Natalia Santa (also of The Dragon Defense from Cannes 2017's Directors' Fortnight) follows a young Colombian woman who dreams of escaping her suffocating urban reality and traveling the world, including to the island of Malta, yet an unexpected relationship with an unlikely man will make her confront her true motives for leaving.
