Watch: Léa Seydoux Takes a Trip Around the ‘Vidéo Club’ Store in Paris

Atténtion! Atténtion! The latest Vidéo Club video is out and this one features French actress Léa Seydoux! The French YouTube channel Konbini posted their latest "Vidéo Club" promo following a celebrity through one of Paris' last video rental shops as they peruse the DVDs/Blu-rays and chat about their favorites. Léa Seydoux stops by this time as part of a promotion for her new French sci-fi romance film The Beast (watch the trailer) in which she co-stars with George MacKay. She's so passionate about all this great cinema! It's refreshing to hear! And I am glad she is also a fan of Xavier Dolan (including Mommy, one of my all-time faves too). Other films discussed: The Kid (1921), A Place in the Sun (1951), On Dangerous Ground (1951), Zazie dans le Métro (1960), Cronenberg's Naked Lunch (1991), Miyazaki's The Wind Rises (2013), and also defends the first Brian De Palma Mission: Impossible (1996) - which I also think is a great film. View below. Thanks to Twitter for the tip on this. The video is made by Konbini, a mega popular YouTube ...

Fun Trailer for Dutch Animated Movie ‘Fox and Hare Save the Forest’

"Operation Rescue Owl is underway!" Screen Daily has revealed the first official promo trailer for an indie animated movie titled Fox and Hare Save the Forest, the latest creation from a Dutch filmmaker named Mascha Halberstad (following her film Oink previously). This is premiering at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival in the kid's section titled Generation - which kicks off this week in Germany. "The 3D animation follows a group of animal friends who embark on an adventure when a lake threatens to submerge their forest home, perhaps the work of a megalomaniac beaver." It centers on the adventures of best friends Fox and Hare. One day, they find out that Owl has gone missing, and they embark on a journey to find him. While the film is a 3D digital creation, it has a stop-motion look & feel by making the characters out of clay and scanning them. The voice cast includes Rob Rackstraw, Dan Skinner, Jamie Quinn, Teresa Galagher, and Sarah Madigan. I like the look of this, I just wish the dialogue wasn't so rough and the ...

Full Trailer for Bertrand Bonello’s Sci-Fi ‘The Beast’ with Léa Seydoux

"I'm afraid of no longer feeling things..." Janus Films has revealed the full official US trailer for the indie French sci-fi romantic thriller The Beast, the latest unique creation from filmmaker Bertrand Bonello. This initially premiered at last year's Venice Film Festival in the fall, with additional festival stops at New York, London and Toronto as well. It's hard to properly describe or even try to explain this film, as it's a peculiar mix of ideas spanning multiple timelines. The plot is set partly in a near future in which A.I. is in control of everyone's lives and emotions are perceived as a threat. To get rid of them, Gabrielle must purify her DNA by going back into her past lives. There, she reunites with Louis, her great love. But she's overcome by fear, a premonition that catastrophe is on the way. The Beast stars French actor Léa Seydoux and British actor George MacKay playing multiple roles in different characters across time, connected mainly by love and other mysterious forces. Bonello adds this explanation: "My desire was to interweave the ...

The nature film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Riley Keough, Christophe Zajac-Denek, and Nathan Zellner wearing full-on Sasquatch suits playing the kooky family living in the forest. Yeah this definitely won't be for everyone! It's a hilarious, fascinating, peculiar, one-of-a-kind cinematic creation that does not hold back - and it is somehow quite touching and endearing when all is said & done (here's my full review). Come play with a Bigfoot family! Learn their ways. Take a look at this "unique and magical world of shapeshifters" in the first look teaser for Woodwalkers. At first glance, Carag looks like a normal boy. But behind his shining eyes hides a secret: Carag is a puma shapeshifter and has only recently started living in the human world. He is accepted into a secret boarding school for shapeshifters called Clearwater High. So this is Harry Potter but with these kids instead of wizards & witches? Full Trailer for Netflix’s Dragon Movie ‘Damsel’ w/ Millie Bobby Brown

"I will escape... for every innocent woman whose life was stolen." Netflix has launched the full trailer for the action thriller fantasy movie Damsel, from Spanish filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (best known for Intacto, 28 Weeks Later, and Intruders years ago). Ready for a streaming release in March. A young woman agrees to marry a handsome prince -- only to discover it was all a trap. She is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon and must rely solely on her wits and will to survive. "She's a 'damsel' who doesn’t need to be saved. She saves herself in many ways. It subverts what you expect: You're expecting the prince to turn around and save her, and... no. Don't wait for the prince." Why, of course not! Millie Bobby Brown stars as Elodie in this story. The cast also includes Robin Wright, Angela Bassett, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, Ray Winstone, and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Seems like this should be a pretty good time! It's not entirely set in the cave with this dragon, clearly a lot more going down ...

Watch: Host Jimmy Kimmel’s Barbie Oscars Promo Video ‘OscarsLand’

"To the Oscars, man!" The 2024 Academy Awards are coming up in one month from now, the end of the 2023 awards season. The Academy hosted their annual Oscar Luncheon featuring all the nominees together for a photo and plenty of chit chat. To begin the countdown, The Academy and ABC have also released a fun promo video featuring host Jimmy Kimmel and some special guests. It's an impressive riff on Barbie, as Jimmy "Ken" Kimmel meets up with Weird Barbie, played by Kate McKinnon reprising her role, and goes off on a voyage to get safely to "OscarsLand". Along the way they recap the Best Picture noms – American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things, The Zone of Interest – and they also encounter Bella Baxter (+ Godwin), America Ferrera, and Ryan Gosling in a Kenough sweater. This has to be one of the best Oscar promo videos in years, they actually get in some solid jokes and it's not too cheesy or dumb. Nice work! ...

Peter Dinklage Tries to Buy a Home in Satire ‘American Dreamer’ Trailer

"Do you wish death upon her?" "Not tomorrow..." Vertical has revealed the official trailer for an indie film titled American Dreamer, now set for release in March this year. This film originally premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival a few years ago, and has been stuck in release limbo ever since. Which is not a good sign. "What do we need to be happy? What do we want? And ultimately - how far are we willing to go, to get it?" Economics professor Phillip Loder poses these questions to his grad students as he ponders these thoughts. Phil is a twice-divorced, frustrated, underpaid professor, as well as an aspiring novelist, clamoring for bigger, better things in his life. He finds a hard-to-believe good deal on a masnion estate and jumps at the offer, hoping he'll strike it rich – only to quickly realize it really is too good to be true. Peter Dinklage stars as Phil with Shirley MacLaine, Kim Quinn, Danny Pudi, Michelle Mylett, plus Danny Glover and Matt Dillon. This looks like a kooky comedy of errors ...

Twisted Fairytale Trailer for ‘Cinderella’s Revenge’ Movie Horror Remix

"Those three are pure evil!" "I want them to suffer just as much as I have..." Quiver Distr. has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror remix called Cinderella's Revenge, another of these "what if we took a Disney character and turned it into a bad horror movie" concepts. It's set for release in April if anyone wants to watch. "Carrie meets Cinderella." Cinderella will go through hell and no one will get out easy. Cinderella’s wicked stepsisters & stepmother push her too far, leading her to swap her glass slippers in pursuit of blood-soaked vengeance with the help of her Fairy Godmother. Starring Lauren Staerck as Cinderella, Natasha Henstridge, Stephanie Lodge, Beatrice Fletcher, Megan Purvis & Darrell Griggs. So they turned Cinderella into a slasher revenge horror? Looks as bad as it sounds, but that's why it might be entertaining? Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Andy Edwards' Cinderella's Revenge, direct from YouTube: Cinderella (played by English actor Lauren Staerck) is pushed too far by her evil stepsisters & stepmother, which causes her to switch out her glass shoes ...
