Lambcast #721 Argylle
This week on the Lambcast we are talking about a new film that opened in theaters rather than streaming. Director Matthew Vaughn has been making spy films for a while now. His film “Layer Cake” was where the EON folks found Daniel Craig to play James Bond. It seems he is pitching a new 007 in his latest film, the frequently linked to the Bond Franchise, Henry Cavill. Whether or not Cavill gets a License to Kill, he has been deeply immersed in spy films for some time. In this film, he may or may not be a fictional character who springs…
Lambcast #720 “Whatcha’ Been Watchin’?
Do you like movies about Gladiators?
How about movies with lengthy sex scenes? Are you into early post apocalyptic survival stories? We have some films for you. This week on the LAMBcast, we have another in our featured series “Whatcha’ Been Watchin’?” Our guests this week reveal the kinds of things they are watching when they are not really planning a review or a podcast, but just scrolling through channels, cruising YouTube, or simply looking for something to finish the day with.
There are Westerns and Science…
Lambcast #719 Dredd (2012) January MOTM
Hear ye, hear ye, all rise for the Honorable Lambcast. Enter and be judged. This week, the guests of the Lambcast are the Law. We decide if the 2012 version of Judge Dread is Dreadful, thus being sent to an iso cube for eternity, or if it is “Not Guilty” and can therefore continue to make action audiences everywhere happy.
Heather Baxendale-Walsh, longtime LAMB, Podcaster, and author, brings the dystopian future’s greatest law enforcement official to the show this week. She championed the film to victory in the MOTM…
Vote for February 2024’s Movie of the Month!
Continuing a tradition started several years ago by the previous host of the LAMBcast, the choices for the Movie of the Month Poll for February all come from Richard, the Host of the LAMBcast, who celebrates his birthday in February. This year. The host has offered up seven films for you to vote on, that are all Blindspots for him. There is a sixty year span of films to choose from. Was Richard lazy, afraid. or just disdainful of this set of movies? The only way to find out is to vote and then listen to the show starting February 19.
All Night Long…Lambcast #718 Queen Bees Get a Keeper [Mean Girls 2024 and The Beekeeper]
Double Duty this week on the Lambcast, as two new releases get our attention, and they could not be directed at more completely different audiences. One film features music and dancing by high school kids, working out their adolescent issues, and the other is filled with violence and mayhem because old people were being taken advantage of. Tina Fey and Jason Statham might never work together in a film, but this weeks episode goes down better than “Barbienheimer”.
Broadway made a musical out of the 2004 comedy film starring…
Lambcast #717 2023 Top Ten Lists
The start of the new year reminds us to finish off the previous year, and that is exactly what this episode of the Lambcast is designed to do. The Traditional Top ten Lists are the subject of this week’s show and we have a combination of guests who joined the live show, and some who sent in their lists to be added to the conversation. Frankly, it is an epic nearly three hours, so make sure you are comfortably seated to take in the show, or that you have a long run or drive ahead of you if you listen on the go.
More than 37 different movies get mentioned…
Lambcast #716 Last Chance to Catch Up with 2023
We can’t really keep up with every movie that gets released, but that is especially true in December when big budget holiday releases and specialty Oscar bait, compete for our attention. This week is a free for all, because the six guests and the host, are welcome to talk about any movies that got released in the last six weeks of the year.
We are saving our Top Ten Lists for the next episode, but some of those films might sneak onto this week’s show, you never know. Nicole Ayers has a lot to say about “Ferrari”, and wrestling…
Lambcast #715 Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
You won’t find any bigger fans of the original “Chicken Run” than here on the Lambcast. 200 Episodes ago, it was the MOTM. Tony Cogan and Jay Cluitt both claimed to be the films biggest fan, but it was Tony who pushed the sequel here, over the finish line, to be the new film that we covered this month on the Lambcast. The community chose this over all the other options and the result is here for your pleasure.
The title may refer to a new food product, or maybe it is the new character introduced in the story. Rocky and Ginger have…
Lambcast #714 Anna and the Apocalypse-December MOTM
That’s right my friends, nothing says “Merry Christmas” like a zombie apocalypse. Of course when you add singing and dancing, it really does feel like a Christmas movie, at least that’s what Howard Casner would argue. As the champion of the film, Howard leads the discussion but frankly, the other guests probably played a part in the movie being selected as well. The Vern just covered it on his own podcast and campaigned here for a win, and just a couple of weeks ago, Rachel Wagner was recommending the movie as well.…
Lambcast #713 Christmas Wish Lists
We thought we’d add something to the Christmas Season that is a little different this year. Of course there will be a Holiday themed MOTM, but that is next week. This week we are sharing some stories about Christmases Past, Present and Future.
Nicole Ayers, Dave Anderson, Rachel Wagner and Todd Liebenow join guest host Howard Casner in sharing stories about past Christmas Film based gifts and experiences, as well as their own wish lists for cinematic holiday joy.
There are gift recommendations, Christmas Movies that are off the…
