Lambcast #704 GameDay

We have always had games as part of the Lambcast, even if every episode did not have a game. We fill in some of those “gameless” shows with an episode that is all games this week. All of the guests on the show this week brought a game to play, and no one knew what anyone else had in mind. Fortunately all of the games are different, they have varying degrees of difficulty, and you can play along with the guests to test your own abilities.

Todd Liebenow takes the reins this week as host while Richard is shark hunting on Broadway, and he never…

Lambcast #703 A Haunting in Venice

Spooky goings on in a mansion in Venice bring famed detective Hercule Poirot out of a self imposed exile from criminal investigations. Is spiritualism real or a con? Has there been a murder or simply a tragedy? Is this a cozy mystery or an alcohol fueled trip into darkness? By the time we are done with this week’s show, you should have the answers to those questions.

Sitting around our séance table this week are last minute volunteers James Wilson, Rachel Wagner and Sean Homrig. They join Howard Casner, who somehow managed not to be …

Lambcast #702 Real Genius MOTM

Our movie of the Month for September is a Back to School Special for all the really bright Lambs out there. If you are not so bright, you will probably enjoy it as well. The film is “Real Genius” from 1985. It’s one of three films opening within a two week span in 1985 classified as Teen Sci Fi Comedies. Those of us on the show this week, would largely agree that this one wins “Best in Show”.

Val Kilmer stars as Chris Knight, a senior at a prestigious tech college modeled after Cal Tech. His devil may care attitude…

Lambcast #701 Whatcha Been Watchin’

Try as he might, Richard can’t be on every show and this week Howard Casner demonstates how superflous Richard really is. Howard moves us through three rounds of Whatcha Been Watchin’ films with Nicole Ayers of The MadLab Post, David Brook from Blueprint Review, Stephen Palmer from the Asian Cinema Film Club and newcomer Daniel Chadwick-Shubat from the Get Reel Movies Blog.

Howard,as always, finds some interesting gems, some of them are even in English, but he makes sure to give all the guests plenty of room to talk about …

Lambcast #700 700th Episode Celebration

In this “special” episode of the LAMBcast we take note of this new milestone by getting together some of the long time hosts of the show, including the founder of the LAMB Dylan Fields.

The conversation starts out with a discussion of the origination of the Lamb and a little backstage talk about the first Lambcast. Dylan went from primitive recording to polished host. Jay Cluitt started out as a disagreeable guest and morphed into a disagreeable host (just kidding). Robert Zerbe was a longtime cohost of the show and hosted …

Lambcast #699 Decade Lookback 1978

This week on the Lambcast, we step into the Wayback Machine and take a trip to the Me Decade. Disco was still king, Sequels were becoming more and more typical, and nostalgia for the Beatles was the driving force of a couple of movies on our lists. We expanded the guest list this week to include some people who have first hand memories of 1978, and we got at least 26 different films to share with each other and with you.

Todd Liebenow of Forgotten Films discovered that on his own project, 1978 may have had the greatest number of entries. Dave Anderson…

Lambcast #698 Hero-MOTM

When the Movie of the Month show rolls around, we always hope for a gem, but sometimes we get a cubic zirconia. This month the guest list evaluating the film discovers a true jewel and happily dive into the discussion of the 2002 film “Hero”.

Heather Baxendale-Walsh championed this personal favorite to the winner’s circle and she enthusiastically sums up the story and draws attention to the aspects of the film that are so special. Tony Coogan and Howard Casner certainly agree on some elements of the film,…
