Lambcast #750 Pre-1973 Horror Movie Draft

Halloween season brings out the ghoul in most of us. We look for a scare or two, something that excites us or thrills us, but often we don’t look part the end of our own nose. Well that’s not happening this year. The LAMB is committed to films from all eras and even though we don’t yet have a “Silent Film of the Month”, that doesn’t mean there should not be one. For now, you are going to have to make due with a draft of films that were made before most of the LAMBs were born.

First Trailer for Totally Nuts ‘Traction Park Massacre’ Horror Thriller

"Check it out - the Death Loop!" A wild trailer has debuted for an indie horror thriller film called Traction Park Massacre, a theme park horror riff made by the filmmakers Douglas DiMonda & Adam Dubin. They had a panel at New York Comic-Con which is where this trailer is from. It's expected to arrive sometime in 2025, as there's no release or festival premiere set yet - but this first look does hype it up. "Young People meet Outlaw Bikers meet feral Twin Psycho-killers in a notorious abandoned water park." Terror Twins LLC is making the film, which is described as an homage to horror cult classics like Evil Dead 2, Friday the 13th, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, etc. Also inspired by the infamous Action Park water park in New Jersey (profiled in this doc Class Action Park) that was actually very dangerous. Traction Park Massacre stars Kai Thomas Schulz, Bodhi Schulz, and Helene Henry, plus many others. The soundtrack features classic metal tracks, a score by Testament's Alex Skolnick, and a theme song "Traction Park Massacre (Don't Cry For Me)" by Brooklyn metal band Das Moöse. This sounds & looks bonkers! Keep an eye out for it […]

Zachary Levi Schools Whoopi, Says Hollywood is Dying

Whoopi Goldberg attempted to shame Zachary Levi last month for suggesting it’s “career suicide” to support Donald Trump in Hollywood. Except Goldberg didn’t have the facts on her side. Sound familiar? Whoopi Goldberg claims Hollywood is a “very right leaning town” after Zachary Levi says endorsing Trump might be “career suicide” for him. According to …

Watch: Filmmaker Sean Baker Shows How 35mm Film Prints Are Made

"Use film if you can." 🎞️ Letterboxd has debuted a promo video featuring the acclaimed director of Anora, Sean Baker, visiting a film processing facility in Los Angeles to check the quality of newly struck prints. This the kind of marketing I dig! Anora just opened in US theaters last weekend and will be expanding to more cities soon - and some special locations will be showing it in 35mm. This video features Letterboxd's host Flynn Slicker interviewing filmmaker Baker while he visits FotoKem, a famous film processing house based in Burbank (originally founded in 1963!). Anora was also shot on 35mm using Arricam LT cameras, processed into a digital negative by Kodak Film Lab. It's nice to see them going back and letting it screen on film in at least a few theaters. Of course, Brady Corbet's The Brutalist will also be getting a full-on 35mm & 70mm film release coming up in December this fall. I am a cinema geek that loves getting into this kind of stuff, the technical details of how to make and print and prepare film stock for projection. I also enjoy any videos about projectionists and the few projection rooms that still have […]

Kelsey Asbille Has Been Paralyzed in Horror ‘Don’t Move’ Trailer #2

"What did you do to me?!" "Just a special relaxant to make things easier on both of us..." Ready for this?! Netflix has unveiled a quick second trailer for the real-time horror film Don't Move, which is produced by maestro Sam Raimi. This 85-minute forest thriller will debut on Netflix later this week. A woman alone in the forests of Big Sur must escape a serial killer with just 20 minutes left before her body fully shuts down. She is injected with a paralyzing medicine and must stumble, crawl, and pull her way out of hell. This seems insanely scary! Directors Brian Netto and Adam Schindler state: "Every sequence we're like, 'OK, how do we make it tougher on her? How do you paint yourself into a corner? And then how do you get yourself out of that?'" Kelsey Asbille stars as Iris, in what should be a star-making role, with Finn Wittrock, Moray Treadwell, and Daniel Francis. There's some shots in here that make me think it's going to be going a lot longer than 20 minutes, as she hides in water and other places. I'm very curious to see how they pull this off. Here's the second trailer […]
