"Stay away from my friends, my theater, and my neighborhood." Shout has debuted the official trailer for an indie action comedy titled Showdown at the Grand, from filmmaker Orson Oblowitz. This trailer has been out for a few weeks, but we're just catching up with it – looks like some harmless fun. It's an 80s action movie homage with a big battle at a vintage cinema. A proud movie theater owner honors action star turned recluse "Claude Luc Hallyday" with a retrospective of his illustrious career but when real estate developers show up to ruin the party, the two new friends must fight off corporate greed in the name of art. Showdown stars Terrence Howard, John Savage, Amanda Righetti, Piper Curda, and Swedish badass Dolph Lundgren as Claude Luc Hallyday. Looks like an entertaining tribute to movies they don't make anymore, and the way theaters used to be. Though it's also fairly cheesy & cliche, but perhaps that's part of the charm. "You and I are the same. So... who's the monster?" Marvel has revealed the first trailer for a gritty, dark new Marvel Studios streaming series called Echo, arriving for streaming January 2024. This is a sort-of sequel to the Hawkeye series, more of a spin-off following a different character on her own adventures. After the events in Hawkeye in New York, Maya Lopez returns to her hometown in Oklahoma, where she must come to terms with her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace her family and community. She's pursued by Wilson Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) criminal empire coming after revenge. Alaqua Cox (Menominee / Mohican) stars as Maya Lopez, with a cast including Chaske Spencer, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, and Cody Lightning. All five episodes will be released in January, making Echo the first series from Marvel Studios to make all eps available to binge in one day. That doesn't seem like a good sign. Apple TV has revealed "An Inside Look" promo featurette for the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series, a Godzilla series debuting this month. Based on Legendary's Monsterverse, the 10-episode series follows two siblings find themselves revisiting the past — from present day to 1950s San Francisco in the wake of Godzilla and the Titans' destructive battle — to uncover the truth behind a secret organization and the many monsters in this world. FX & Hulu have revealed an official trailer for an epic new historical series called Shōgun, created by writers Justin Marks & Rachel Kondo. An epic saga of war, passion, and power set in Feudal Japan. From James Clavell's novel of the same name, FX’s Shōgun is set at the dawn of a century-defining civil war. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found in a nearby fishing village. Set in the 17th Century, it follows John Blackthorne, a sailor who rises from outsider to samurai, while being used as a pawn in Japanese leader Toranaga's struggle to reach the top of the ruling chain, or Shogun.
