Will Late Night Apologize for Sharing Cassidy Hutchinson’s Hoax?

Colbert and co. couldn’t help themselves. They heard former Trump White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson describe a surreal scene tied to Jan. 6, 2021 and they couldn’t wait to spread it on their respective platforms. Did it matter that it appeared fictitious from the jump? Not to these brave, “speaking truth to power” satirists. Then …

Lambcast #742 The 1984 Movie Draft

One of the things everybody seems to agree on is that 1984 was a landmark year for films. There were blockbusters that still have franchise installments up to today, as well as esoteric foreign language films, and cult movies galore released in that 366 day window. In was inevitable that the LAMB community would get a showdown of movies from that period.

Six Filmslingers have gathered for a draft to see who has picked the best slate of movies from 1984. As always with these shows, there is a mental tug-of-war for the contestants, do we pick …

Paul Reiser & Colm Meaney in Funny ‘The Problem With People’ Trailer

"Sneaky bastard." Let 'em at it! Quiver Distribution has revealed the official US trailer for a comedy from Ireland called The Problem With People, which is a clever title for nowadays because almost everyone is thinking about the many problems with people. This premiered at a few film festivals in late 2023 and will open right away on VOD in the US starting in October this fall. Two distant cousins who've never met - one living in NYC, the other in the smallest town there is in Ireland - come together in Ireland to finally put an end to a generations-long family feud. It doesn't go well... The Problem With People, set in beautifully lush Irish countryside, is a heartwarming comedy about family, world peace... and sheep. 🐑 Colm Meaney and Paul Reiser (who also co-wrote & produced) star, along with Jane Levy, Lucianne McEvoy, and Des Keogh. Reviews say the film "ecomes a lovely trip to the Irish countryside, filled with great laughs, some bickering, and a lot of love." Looks like there's a few good jokes in this ...

Intense Red Band Trailer for ‘Out Come the Wolves’ Survival Thriller

"There haven't been wolves in this area for years!" IFC Films + Shudder have unveiled an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Out Come the Wolves, the latest horror from filmmaker Adam MacDonald (of Backcountry and Pyewacket). This intense Canadian survival thriller set in the backwoods is about a woman who must fight two kinds of wolves - animals living in nature, and jealous human males. 🐺 Watch out. At a remote cabin deep in the wilderness, a weekend of hunting with three people turns to mayhem and a fight for survival when a pack of wolves suddenly attack a man, his best friend, and her fiance. "Sophie is forced to rely on her hunting prowess to face the deadly predators and save the one closest to her heart." Of course. Starring Missy Peregrym as Sophie, Joris Jarsky and Damon Runyan. I thought we'd moved on from using wolves as the villains in survival movies, but I guess they're a metaphor this time. Just makes me want to (re)watch that Liam Neeson survival movie The Grey instead, in ...

Wacky ‘Tickets On Sale’ Trailer for Tim Burton’s ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’

"You're a figment of my imagination!" Warner Bros has launched a funky 60-scond trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to announce that advance tickets are now on sale. This highly anticipated sequel will premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival on Opening Night (at the end of August), before hitting theaters right after. Beetlejuice 2 continues the story with the very same family. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia Deetz's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the peculiar model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened (once again). Michael Keaton returns as the miscreant Betelgeuse + Winona Ryder stars again as Lydia, joined by an exuberant full cast featuring Jenna Ortega as Astrid, Catherine O'Hara, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux, Arthur Conti, Burn Gorman, and Filipe Cates; plus Willem Dafoe as a ghost detective who, in his life, was a B movie action star. This is such a kooky trailer, starting out with Beetlejuice singing the 80s classic "Right Here Waiting" then ending with all manner of bonkers afterlife shenanigans. ...
