Hilarious New Teaser for Netflix’s ‘Exploding Kittens’ Animated Series
"It's Godcat's world, and we're all just a PR ploy." Netflix has revealed another official teaser trailer for the animated series Exploding Kittens, yes it's an adaptation of the card game and comics by the same name. "God and the Devil - trapped in cat bodies." From the Executive Producers of Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill, and The Office comes a new animated adult comedy series based on the popular card game. The eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell reaches epic proportions when both God and the Devil are sent to Earth - in the bodies of chunky house cats. The original game's premise: "Bring the catnip. Draw as many cards as you can, and do your best to dodge — or defuse — fatal felines. Or else, boom goes the dynamite!" The series pits good vs. evil - but with cats. With the voices of Tom Ellis as God Cat, with David Gborie, Lucy Liu, Mark Proksch, Ally Maki, Sasheer Zamata, and Abraham Lim. I'm glad this isn't animation for kids, because all of the brutal, rude, ...

Who’s Buying Up All Our Food & Water? ‘The Grab’ Doc Official Trailer
"Food is a very obvious & central way to wield power." Magnolia Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for The Grab, a fascinating documentary film from Blackflish filmmaker Gabriela Cowperthwaite. This is one of these films that "they" (the government, powerful people, etc) don't want you to see. They don't want you to know what's really going, who is doing it, what is quietly happening. An investigative journalist uncovers the money, influence, and alarming rationale behind covert efforts to control the most vital resource on the planet – food. The Grab is a global thriller about hard-hitting journalism from the Center for Investigative Reporting combined with compelling character-driven storytelling from director Gabriela Cowperthwaite, taking you around the globe to reveal one of the world’s biggest and least known threats. It's a look at who (and why) powerful nations are taking over control of food and water worldwide. It's scary and eye-opening and alarming. The film first premiered in 2022 at the Toronto Film Festival but has taken a few years to get properly released. I saw this back then and ...
Irreverent ‘Mr. Birchum’ Hammers Woke Culture
Adam Carolla knew we needed “Mr. Birchum” both sooner and later. The cranky wood shop teacher, created by Carolla to break into LA radio in the 1990s, captured his real-world carpentry chops and no-nonsense style. Today, the character’s bluster is the perfect antidote to our woke, “this is MY truth” society. “Mr. Birchum,” the new …

"Your daughter's compassion is triggered when she sees humans dying." Drafthouse FIlms has debuted an official US trailer for an acclaimed dark comedy vampire horror film titled Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person hailing from Quebec. This one originally premiered at the 2023 Venice & Toronto Film Festivals last year, and has been playing at more festivals this year. Starring Sara Montpetit as Sasha, with Félix-Antoine Bénard as Paul, Steve Laplante, Sophie Cadieux, and Noémie O'Farrell. I raved in my Venice review: "What a great, bloody vampire gem, easy to watch and fall for, enjoyable in its simplicity with this concept." An cult classic in the making! The kind of film others will only discover years from now, but you ...
Freaky Trailer for Sci-Fi Tech Horror Thriller ‘Latency’ with Sasha Luss
"The more you wear the Omnia, the faster it will learn." Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for an indie tech horror thriller called Latency, from filmmaker James Croke. This is another of these intriguing A.I. horror films, more of a sci-fi thriller, though it also has some scary moments in it. Starring Sasha Luss (Anna) and Alexis Ren (The Enforcer), Latency marks the feature debut of writer / director James Croke. This sci-fi thriller follows a professional gamer battling acute agoraphobia, tasked with testing new gaming equipment powered by A.I. - capable of reading her mind. As they experiment with this new tech, the line between reality and Hana's subconscious begins to blur and she starts to wonder if the device is helping her or serving a more sinister force. A.I. serving a more sinister force? Yes, it definitely is (that sinister force being greed). This looks a bit derivative, but also seems like some fun set-in-one-room sci-fi horror to enjoy.
Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for James Croke's film Latency, direct from Lionsgate's YouTube:
