Official Trailer for ‘Copa 71’ Doc – About the 1971 Women’s World Cup

"It was important for women to see that this was possible." Greenwich Entertainment has debuted a trailer for a sports history documentary film titled Copa 71, arriving to watch in June. It first premiered at TIFF 2023 last year, with stops at the London, Philadelphia, AFI Fest, and Göteborg Film Festivals. Told by the pioneering women who participated, this is the extraordinary story of the 1971 Women's Soccer World Cup, a tournament witnessed by record crowds that has been written out of sporting history – until now. This is the entirely true story of the 1971 Women’s World Cup, which was held in Mexico City and witnessed by more than 100,000 fans. This landmark tournament was dismissed by FIFA, of course, which should be no surprise to anyone familiar with this sordid sports organization. The doc film features interviews with various players who participated in the World Cup in 1971 and many others. Executive produced by Venus & Serena Williams. This looks awesome! Glad this once forgotten story is finally being told with proper pizazz. Here's the official US trailer (+ ...

Watch: Entrancing Short ‘Sit Down, Don’t Touch Anything’ on Creativity

Do you sometimes struggle with creativity? How do you motivate and inspire yourself (again) when you're out of energy to create? The latest short film creation from Swiss animation filmmaker Frederic Siegel is this 5-minute film titled Sit Down, Don't Touch Anything. It's an entrancing, hypnotic short about the creative process inspired, of course, by Frederic's own challenges with creativity. "I worked on [this film for] the last two years more or less in complete secrecy during the pandemic. I started with experimenting on new, weird styles and ended up with a weird 5-minute, experimental short." No other intro is needed, just click play on the video, turn up the volume, enter full screen – and enjoy. Frederic also works with a Swiss animation design studio called Team Tumult and they've made some awesome shorts in the past (highly recommend The Lonely Orbit). This new one is a solo short but still as mesmerizing as ever. Dive in below. Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip on this debuting online. Here's the very brief intro from YouTube: "A face ...

"Combination of people on the stage is, without question, historic." Greenwich Entertainment has revealed the official US trailer for a music history documentary film titled Revival69: The Concert That Rocked the World, about the iconic 1969 Toronto Rock 'n Roll Revival music festival. This behind-the-scenes look at "the second most important event in rock and roll history" culminates in John Lennon's very first public performance with The Plastic Ono Band, integral in triggering his decision to leave the Beatles. Forged with rare, recently discovered behind-the-scenes Super 8 verité footage, and including never-before seen 16mm film of the concert shot by D.A. Pennebaker and his crew, Revival69 is an exhilarating VIP ride into a pivotal moment in music history, told through the eyes of those who ...

Catching a Serial Killer in Crime Thriller ‘The Execution’ Official Trailer

"It's him. I can feel it." 4Digital Media has revealed an official US trailer for a dark, brutal crime thriller title The Execution, loosely based on a true story about a Russian serial killer that was very hard to catch. After first opening in theaters in 2022, this film is headed to VOD in the US this May. For 10 years the country's most wanted serial killer has evaded police. Even when he's finally caught, nobody can prove his guilt. As the manhunt intensifies, the investigation grows increasingly personal between detective and suspect. After its world premiere at both Fantastic Fest and the Sitges Film Festival back in 2021, and a theatrical release in Russia, 4Digital will debut this on VOD soon. The film stars Niko Tavadze, Evgeniy Tkachuk, Daniil Spivakovskiy, and Aglaya Tarasova. Described in reviews as "a brutal & gripping psychological thriller." This certainly looks inspired by David Fincher's Se7en and many other brutal serial killer thrillers like that. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Lado Kvataniya's film The Execution, direct from YouTube: This new film is loosely ...
