Official Trailer for ‘One Night in Tokyo’ Sweet Romance Set in Japan

"Sometimes I wonder... what it'd be like to just run away." Buffalo 8 has revealed an official trailer for an indie romantic drama called One Night in Tokyo, reminiscent of Before Sunrise & Before Sunset, even a bit of Lost in Translation. After premiering at the 2024 Cinequest Film Festival, it's being released on VOD in February for anyone who wants to watch. Betrayal spawns an unexpected night through the streets of Tokyo for two strangers left questioning the meaning of life and love. Sam arrives in Tokyo only to have his trip unexpectedly cut short when his expat girlfriend breaks up with him. Stuck for the night while he waits for his new flight, Sam makes an unlikely friend in Ayaka, a young Japanese woman who reluctantly takes him out for the night in the city. The indie film stars Reza Emamiyeh as Sam and Tokiko Kitagawa as Ayaka, with Cailee Oliver, Shinichiro Watanabe, and Mika Ahn. This looks really sweet and charming. Of course now I want to go back to Japan & get lost running around Tokyo, too. This is really worth a watch. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Joshua Woodcock's film One Night in […]

Festival Teaser for ‘Such Good Friends’ Comedy Short at Sundance 2025

"My whole family is going to really need you... So you'll stay for dinner tonight, and then maybe after we can have a sleepover." Catch an early first look teaser for this short film premiering at the upcoming 2025 Sundance Film Festival this month. Such Good Friends is the latest creation from the team that made the excellent comedy short The Cowboy and the Samurai which we featured a few years ago. Their next brand new 11 minute short is about a friend and a family. After ending a toxic friendship, a people pleaser finds herself falling into old patterns with her former best friend's family. Apparently including a sleepover? Ha. Starring Mindy Sterling, Niamh O'Neill Culhane, Jared Lo Nigro, and Rachel Rambaldi. Directed by Bri Klaproth, written by Jon Walkup and Bri Klaproth. I'm always happy to support short films and as a big fan of their last one, this one is already on my radar at Sundance this year. Keep an eye out for it there. Here's the festival teaser for Jon Walkup & Bri Klaproth's short film Such Good Friends, from YouTube: After reevaluating a toxic friendship, Emma tries to overcome her people-pleasing ways by cutting ties […]
