The Houston Rockets<\/a> had one goal coming into the 2023-24 NBA season. They wanted to become more competitive and take steps toward climbing out of their rebuild while developing their young players.<\/p>\n

The NBA Playoffs may be out of their reach this season, but there have certainly been improvements made. One of the players who have been the most impressive during the season is third-year center, Alperen Sengun<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sengun had a case of making the NBA All-Star Game this season as he has taken a major step forward with his production. He is averaging 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 32.4 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

It is an impressive coming-out party for Sengun, who was a first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Anyone who didn’t know he was before Tuesday night will now be hearing a lot about him as he had the best game of his young career.<\/p>\n

Going up against San Antonio Spurs<\/a> rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama<\/a>, Sengun found some success. As always against Wembanyama, there were some instances that Sengun was on the wrong side of a highlight, but he had a strong game.<\/p>\n

He scored 45 points with 16 rebounds, three assists, five steals and one block in a 114-101 victory. It was one of the best performances in NBA history, as Sengun joined an exclusive group with the outstanding game.<\/p>\n

Before Tuesday, there were only four players in NBA history who have scored 45+ points with 15+ rebounds and 5+ steals in a game since steals were tracked in the 1973-74 season. Anthony Davis<\/a>, who is the only player to do it twice, Joel Embiid<\/a>, James Harden<\/a>, John Drew<\/a> and now Sengun. Sengun does hold a piece of NBA history, as he is the youngest player to reach those plateaus<\/a> in a single game.<\/p>\n
