Although some sports car fans might be worried about the future of enthusiast cars, thanks to the focus on EVs, Hyundai is out to show that it can indeed make a sports car that just happens to be electric. This is being proven by the arrival of the Ioniq 5 N and now Hyundai has unveiled the track ready Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car that will compete at the Inje Speedium circuit in South Korea on April 27.<\/p>\n

The Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car has a more aggressive look than the standard car with its redesigned body kit that features a large front lip, big dive planes sticking out from the front bumper, wide over-fenders and a large rear wing. Unnecessary parts have also been removed to reduce weight, since it comes in at 4,343 pounds, which is over 500 pounds lighter than the Ioniq 5 N. Parts like the large 21-inch wheels and glass windows were removed and replaced by lightweight 18-inch wheels and polycarbonate windows. The hood is made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP).<\/p>\n

Inside the interior is bare bones with all the standard seats being taken out and just a single bucket seat exists for the driver. For safety, the interior gets a roll cage and a fire extinguisher.<\/p>\n

Although there aren’t any changes to the 641 horsepower electric powertrain, the eN1 Cup car will be quicker thanks to its reduced weight and improved aerodynamics.<\/p>\n
