From streamlining<br \/>\nprocesses, enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and automating<br \/>\nsoftware to improving performance metrics, there&#39;s hardly an<br \/>\nautomotive process today that cannot seem to benefit from AI-driven<br \/>\ntools.<\/p>\n<p >Of the many GenAI tools and applications available today,<br \/>\nChatGPT has really caught on with the automotive industry thanks to<br \/>\nits varied use cases. For automakers still lacking GenAI expertise,<br \/>\nnow is the time to close this gap with strategic partnerships for<br \/>\ncapability-building. Launching pilot projects on existing<br \/>\ntechnology platforms can help them build expertise in a low-risk<br \/>\nmanner while forming partnerships with experienced technology firms<br \/>\ncan help expedite the delivery of capabilities.<\/p>\n<p ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ihsmarkit.com\/www\/images\/0424\/ai-use-cases-auto-1_040420241448510.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>S&amp;amp;P Global Mobility believes that OEMs will need to collaborate<br \/>\nclosely with their chosen AI technology providers. This partnership<br \/>\nwill not only improve the process of data collection from vehicle<br \/>\nbut also establish advanced LLM training to enhance overall AI<br \/>\nproficiency and offer comprehensive services and<br \/>\nfunctionalities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#39;s a snapshot of how OEMs are leveraging GenAI to offer<br \/>\nsmart solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul >\n<li>Mercedes Benz has been beta-testing ChatGPT in over 900,000 of<br \/>\nits vehicles in the US, to explore how the AI tool can enhance the<br \/>\nintuitiveness of MBUX&#39;s voice-control features. Mercedes-Benz is<br \/>\nalso testing ChatGPT in production to accelerate the use of<br \/>\nintelligent tools in the MO360 digital production ecosystem.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>BMW has incorporated ChatGPT into its iDrive system, letting<br \/>\ndrivers control various functions of their car using<br \/>\nnatural-language voice commands.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>General Motors has a wide-ranging collaboration with Google<br \/>\naround Google Cloud&#39;s conversational AI technology, Dialogflow,<br \/>\nthat powered the automaker&#39;s OnStar Interactive Virtual Assistant<br \/>\n(IVA) launched in 2022. Leveraging Dialogflow, the IVA provides<br \/>\nOnStar Members with routing and navigation assistance, including<br \/>\nturn-by-turn directions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Volkswagen became the first volume automaker to offer ChatGPT<br \/>\nas a standard feature when it unveiled its first vehicles with the<br \/>\ntechnology integrated into its IDA voice assistant at CES 2024.<br \/>\nPowered by Cerence Chat Pro, Volkswagen&#39;s ChatGPT variant will be<br \/>\nrolled out in the following models &#8211; ID.71, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3,<br \/>\nall-new Tiguan, all-new Passat, and the new Golf &#8211; starting in the<br \/>\nsecond quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Peugeot has integrated ChatGPT into its i-Cockpit and can be<br \/>\nactivated via the voice assistant &#39;OK Peugeot&#39;. By introducing<br \/>\nChatGPT into its cars, Peugeot seeks to enhance the experience of<br \/>\nthe voice assistant, making it more interactive, seamless, and<br \/>\nuser-friendly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Following in the footsteps of its parent company VW, \u0160koda<br \/>\nplans to incorporate Cerence&#39;s automotive-grade ChatGPT as a<br \/>\nstandard feature for many customers from mid-2024.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Stellantis&#39; DS Automobiles brand will integrate ChatGPT as<br \/>\nstandard on all its models equipped with the DS IRIS voice<br \/>\nassistant starting in March 2024. Powered by SoundHound Chat AI and<br \/>\navailable in 13 languages across 18 countries, DS IRIS can respond<br \/>\nto a vast range of questions from hundreds of real-time<br \/>\ndomains.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tesla&#39;s Autopilot system uses AI algorithms (Convolutional<br \/>\nNeural Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, and Reinforcement<br \/>\nlearning) to enhance the performance of the car&#39;s advanced driver<br \/>\nassistance features. Tesla also revealed its own version of an AI<br \/>\nchatbot called Grok last November, which is currently in test<br \/>\nmode.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Faraday Future has integrated its Generative AI Product Stack<br \/>\nin its first production vehicle, the FF 91.
