Tom Holland<\/strong><\/a> continues to be asked about returning to the role of Peter Parker in Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man 4<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and the actor offers a little update and explains what he doesn\u2019t want the movie to be.<\/p>\n

When asked if he wanted to return to play Spider-Man again, Holland told Deadline<\/a>: “The simple answer is that I\u2019ll always want to do Spider-Man films. I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I\u2019ll always want to do more.”<\/p>\n

However, he went on to offer a more “complicated answer” explaining that he wants to make sure the upcoming fourth installment lives up to bar set by the previously made films. <\/p>\n

The actor said: \u201cWe have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we\u2019ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holland went on to say: \u201cThe third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.” In an effort to help with that, he got more involved with the development of the film and its story early on.<\/p>\n

He said: “This is the first time in this process that I\u2019ve been part of the creative so early. It\u2019s just a process where I\u2019m watching and learning. It\u2019s just a really fun stage for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to add what he doesn\u2019t want to see happen: \u201cLike I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we\u2019re not overdoing the same things.”<\/p>\n

With the way that Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/em> ended with no one knowing Peter Parker is Spider-Man, that is a very fresh jumping-off point for a very different kind of dynamic that could make for some interesting storytelling. Hopefully, they play with that.<\/p>\n

It was previously rumored<\/a> that Spider-Man 4<\/em> will see Peter Parker stepping fully into Spider-Man, and leaving Peter behind. <\/p>\n

It was explained: “The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence. In his mind, Peter Parker is no more…but Spider-Man lives on.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince he has either lost or detached himself from everyone he\u2019s ever loved, all he has to keep him going is being Spider-Man, whether the city loves him for it or not.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd as the title of Spider-Man continues to consume Peter\u2019s life little by little, Peter Parker will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly. This story point can be compared to Robert Pattinson\u2019s Batman in The Batman.”<\/p>\n

But, it still seems so early in the process that even if any of that is true, things could very well go in a completely different direction depending on who Marvel brings into direct. <\/p>\n

Sam Raimi<\/strong>, Jon Favreau<\/strong>, Justin Lin<\/strong>, John Francis Daley<\/strong> & Jonathan Goldstein<\/strong>, and Drew Goddard<\/strong> have all been rumored <\/a>to be up for the directing job, but nothing has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

The film is expected to start filming later this year, in either September or October. If that\u2019s true, things are going to start falling into place for the movie pretty soon. <\/p>\n\n
