Pierce\u2019s time with the Cs came to a close in 2013, when he, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry were traded to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netsdaily.com\/\">Brooklyn Nets<\/a>, However, according to him, once you\u2019re a Celtic, it lasts forever. It\u2019s a tradition that he hopes to help the current squad adopt and grow to love, much like other Celtic legends did for him.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1SZckF\">\u201cYeah, I think that\u2019s what it should be all about,\u201d Pierce said. \u201cYou know it\u2019s always been that way since I\u2019ve been a part of the organization, and I love that Joe [Mazzulla] has reached out to me and some of the other guys to be around more.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"Lo4RBB\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" align=\"center\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;There&#8217;d be times I&#8217;d look up&#8230; Tommy Heinsohn was always there&#8230; John Havlicek, Bill Russell, Cousy&#8230; continue to the brotherhood.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/paulpierce34?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@paulpierce34<\/a> talks about the impact of former <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Celtics?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Celtics<\/a> spending time with the current team  <\/p>\n<p>Presented by: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/m28oI3E9Mr\">https:\/\/t.co\/m28oI3E9Mr<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FBqh5f6RCs\">pic.twitter.com\/FBqh5f6RCs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Celtics on NBC Sports Boston (@NBCSCeltics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBCSCeltics\/status\/1709979270561296453?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 5, 2023<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"vf8q0B\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.celticsblog.com\/2023\/10\/4\/23903519\/boston-celtics-joe-mazzulla-paul-pierce-satch-sanders-eddie-house-leon-powe-jayson-tatum\">Mazzulla\u2019s idea<\/a> to encourage former Celtics to be around as much as possible stems from his desire to keep Boston\u2019s tradition of brotherhood and greatness alive.<\/p>\n<p id=\"65nmbr\">\u201cI sent an email out to all the Celtics former players because I felt like it\u2019s important that we share in this experience together,\u201d Mazzulla said Tuesday. \u201cThey started the tradition, they kept it going, and now it\u2019s our responsibility as an organization to keep it alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"OwW9Mp\">The tradition is something that is consistently talked about in Boston, but not something that\u2019s been in practice as much as of late. Over the past decade or so, there\u2019s been a dip in the number of legends that are seen spending time around the team. It was partly due to the most recent group playing out the end of their careers in the late 2010s. Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Rajon Rondo were all active for a few years after moving on from the Cs. Now that they\u2019re all retired (though Rondo hasn\u2019t officially announced that he\u2019s hanging it up), there\u2019s more time for them to be around the current generation of Celtics stars.<\/p>\n<p id=\"u9mReo\">\u201cNot only just coming to the games, but to come to practice, even travel with the team, or be around the team a little bit more,\u201d Pierce continued. \u201cThat\u2019s how it was when I played. Tommy Heinsohn was always there, then you\u2019d look up and see John Havlicek, Bill Russell, [Bob] Cousy. It just brings a certain energy to the building whenever I saw them guys at a practice or at a game. So, I think it\u2019s up to us to try and continue the brotherhood. It\u2019s all part of our culture and this is something that the Celtics have always been about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"tmN0oQ\">Earlier this year, Pierce and KG paid a visit to the Auerbach Center for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-7KcKY1NqWE&amp;pp=ygUzcGF1bCBwaWVyY2UgYW5kIGtldmluIGdhcm5ldHQgdmlzaXQgYXVlcmJhY2ggY2VudGVy\">ShowTime Basketball.<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"UPdzqm\">\n<div style=\"left: 0; width: 100%; height: 0; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-7KcKY1NqWE?rel=0\" style=\"top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute; border: 0;\" allowfullscreen=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" allow=\"accelerometer; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"dNRy7O\">While they were spending time with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and the rest of the guys, Pierce continuously encouraged Garnett to keep coming back and showing his face around the team.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7cuqqP\">So far this fall, he\u2019s practiced what he\u2019s preached and has been a prominent figure at training camp. Pierce isn\u2019t the only Celtics legend who\u2019s taken Mazzulla up on his invitation; Satch Sanders, Eddie House, and Leon Powe were all around for Tuesday\u2019s practice.<\/p>\n<p id=\"PMhFeZ\">Pierce hopes that his presence \u2014 along with the others \u2014 can inspire Boston\u2019s contending squad.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Pnuaux\">\u201cIt\u2019s definitely inspirational because we understand that these guys coming back \u2014 this is something that they built.
