20th Century Studios has released the final trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, and it teases a thrilling and epic adventure story.<\/p>\n

The trailer teases lots of new footage an additional insight on the story that it tells, which is set several generations in the future following Caesar\u2019s reign, \u201cin which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.\u201d<\/p>\n

The producers of the new movie, Rick Jaffa<\/strong> and Amanda Silver<\/strong>, previously opened up about the film and compared it to Avatar<\/em> and Dune<\/em>. <\/p>\n

When explaining how, Jaffa said: Well, the world has changed. On a thematic level it\u2019s asking different questions, and the characters are different.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI\u2019d also say the same thing that you could say for Avatar<\/em> or Dune<\/em>: it\u2019s visually stunning. There\u2019s nothing like it, really. That experience, in the theatre, of a whole new world. Yes, it\u2019s our world, but our world looks different.”<\/p>\n

Silver added: “It\u2019s a beautiful film, anchored in beautiful characters that you really care about. Yes, you\u2019ve got this epic landscape, but none of it works unless it\u2019s anchored by great characters and a compelling story.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to say: \u201cThis next adventure offers things that are brand new, fresh surprises, while being familiar and while honoring the past.”<\/p>\n

The movie has previously been compared to films such as Star Wars<\/em> and The Lord of the Rings<\/em>, specifically regarding the main character Noa, who is liked to Luke Skywalker and Frodo Baggins.<\/p>\n

The director explained<\/a> how that is the case: “Noa fits that archetype. He’s a new character we can identify with, appreciate, and respect because he’s incredibly kind and nice.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he is going to undergo this great transformation, or at least the beginnings of one in this movie, where that innocence is robbed of him a little bit.”<\/p>\n

Ha also said: \u201cWhen I first started on it, I said, \u2018I feel like Apes needs a little bit of Star Wars. It\u2019s all still very grounded in reality, but it is essentially a quest narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ball continued: \u201cOur main character \u2013 the young, impressionable Noa \u2013 meets characters along the way and becomes awakened as he winds up in a place that will test him, and he ultimately becomes his true self. We haven\u2019t kiddified it, or Disneyfied it, if I\u2019m allowed to say that! But we have brought a younger spirit to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movie comes from director Wes Ball<\/strong> <\/a>(The Maze Runner<\/em>) and the cast includes Owen Teague<\/strong><\/a> (It), Freya Allen<\/strong> <\/a>(The Witcher<\/em>), and Peter Macon<\/strong> <\/a>(The Orville<\/em>). The script for the film comes from Josh Friedman<\/strong> (War of the Worlds<\/em>), Rick Jaffa<\/strong> and Amanda Silver<\/strong> (Rise of the Planet of the Apes<\/em>), and Patrick Aison<\/strong> (Prey<\/em>). It also co-stars Travis Jeffery<\/strong> (Unbroken<\/em>), Neil Sandilands<\/strong> (Sweet Tooth<\/em>), Sara Wiseman<\/strong> (One Of Us Is Lying<\/em>), Ras-Samuel Welda\u2019abzgi<\/strong> (The Clearing<\/em>), Lydia Peckham<\/strong> (Cowboy Bebop<\/em>), and Kevin Durand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The movie is set to be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.<\/p>\n
