This volume would translate to an estimated<br \/>\nsales pace of 16.0 million units (seasonally adjusted annual rate:<br \/>\nSAAR), just the third time in the past 24 months the metric has<br \/>\nreached this level.<\/p>\n<p >&#8220;With an auto sales environment currently defined by the mixed<br \/>\nsignals of advancing inventory and incentives, together with<br \/>\naffordability concerns from high interest rates and still-high<br \/>\nvehicle prices, the anticipated April result reflects that<br \/>\nconsumers are still in the market for a new vehicle,&#8221; said Chris<br \/>\nHopson, principal analyst at S&amp;amp;P Global Mobility.<\/p>\n<p >Retail-advertised inventory continues its steady rise, and<br \/>\nstands now at 2.97 million units, an increase of 65% vs. last year.<br \/>\nWhile most dealer inventory comprises 2024 and some 2025 model year<br \/>\nvehicles, pockets of older inventory remain.<\/p>\n<p >&#8220;Consumers in the market for a new vehicle are increasingly able<br \/>\nto find opportunities for discounts coming from the availability of<br \/>\nmore vehicles in dealer inventory,&#8221; said Matt Trommer, associate<br \/>\ndirector at S&amp;amp;P Global Mobility.<\/p>\n<p >The supply side of the auto equation is continuing to show signs<br \/>\nof advancement, hinting at sustained growth for inventories and<br \/>\nincentives moving through 2024.
