DS Automobiles is transitioning into an electric-only brand and all models introduced from 2024 will be “exclusively 100% electric.”<\/p>\n

The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but confirmed plans to launch an electric DS 4<\/a> next year. It will then be followed by an all-new model based on the STLA M \/ Medium platform.<\/p>\n

DS said the upcoming vehicle will have “extraordinary technology and refinement” as well as “technical features adapted perfectly to the wishes of … customers.” Details are still being finalized, but the company said the model will be offered with a 98 kWh battery pack that delivers a range in excess of 435 miles (700 km).<\/p>\n

The upcoming model will be made at the Melfi plant in Italy, where it will eventually be joined by a second DS EV at a later date. Previous reports<\/a> have suggested the first model will be a midsize fastback, which could adopt the DS 9 moniker. A DS 7 successor is then expected to follow in 2025.<\/p>\n

We’ll learn more in the coming months, but Stellantis<\/a> detailed the STLA Medium platform earlier this year and noted the architecture will be used on electric cars, crossovers, and SUVs in the C and D segments. The platform is highly flexible and can underpin models that are 169.3-192.9 inches (4,300-4,900 mm) long and have wheelbases of 106.3-114.2 inches (2,700-2,900 mm).<\/p>\n

Vehicles based on the platform will be offered with front- or all-wheel drive and they’ll have outputs ranging from 215 hp (160 kW \/ 218 PS) to 382 hp (285 kW \/ 387 PS). We can also expect “Standard” and “Performance” battery packs with the latter boasting more than 435 miles (700 km) of range.<\/p>\n
